Well, they better hurry up; with the kind of success Trump is having...there will be talk of another Head up on Rushmore by the time the Dems get their silly Bill even on paper.

a 25th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution would allow Congress to set up a medical commission that could determine if a president is fit for office
this is only a bad idea for the right if you think trump wouldn't pass that test.

is that a concern to you?

It's stupid to even propose, but how can proposing to use a constitutional process be treasonous, expecially since Pence and the cabinet to agree?

You're fighting stupid (the proposal) with stupidity (calling it treasonous).

No, it's a bad idea period. Partisan politics aren't going to usurp a legitimately elected President. If you're for that, then we should get this Civil War started.

so if a president starts suffering from severe dementia there shouldnt be a way to replace them?

and the VP has to agree, so i have no idea why you're crying about it being partisan.

Where's the 2/3 majority in both houses going to come from?

Wouldn't they need over 60 House Republicans and at least 19 Senate Republicans to go along with it?

It seems that the Vice President must agree AND a majority of the cabinet --unless congress provides another body of people (which seems unlikely and impractical)--to agree.
quote:

Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.
So if Pence and the majority of Trump's cabinet agree that Trump is unable to function, then I'm going to think that it will be an appropriate decision, with little disagreement.

It's not going to happen, unless something extreme incapacitated the president (e.g., medical condition) so it's a pointless proposal anyways.
