I’d be fine with ending farm subsidies

Leftists trying to cut the budget to do right by the taxpayers?

Nope. They're trying to cut "carbon emissions to save the planet".

European leadership has a death wish. First they cut their energy supply, now they are destroying their food supply. I don’t think they understand people can’t live on Greta’s dreams.

They are penalizing farmers for requiring energy itself becoming smarter and smarter in its use

They want to force farming into an untenable occupation

Poliboard hypocrites show up again.

Lots of downvotes for a statement that conservatives should universally agree with. I’d also be fine with ending EV subsidies. Which Gov handouts and subsidies are ok and which ones aren’t?

While they continue to import foreigners that will destroy their blood lines.

I wonder if they are planning on importing the 250k Kenyans.

Since when have leftist governments been fiscally conservative? They obviously have a long-term ulterior motive. See Netherlands example.

It is all part of the plan. Food production, access to your funds, and transportation to be completely controlled by the government. Truly evil.

This is the worst "small government" board in politics. They love their subsidies and Trump bucks.

Bless your heart, bro. Why would you conclude that this board is defined as a “small government” board? If that’s your overall perception before you even dive in, then not much else from your end is going to be rational or logical. All due respect.

This is not an example of shrinking government. They are taking steps to grow it exponentially in the future via population control. Why else would they shrink food supply while their continent is being flooded with “immigrants”?

Because I've been reading this board for 15 years, and 90% think they are conservatives.

Hundred of German farmers and their tractors gathered in central Berlin on Monday to protest against the government's plans to cut diesel subsidies and tax breaks for agricultural vehicles next year as part of Berlin's 2024 austerity measures.

I thought farm subsidies were frowned upon by true conservatives?

Go find another “board” and/or go play in traffic at the same time!

Do us all a favor and see your way out of our board if you don’t like it!

Plenty of self proclaimed conservative people here. Then when it becomes time to be conservative they're all just big government types

The cuts also aim to help reduce greenhouse emissions in the country's agriculture sector that was responsible for 55.5 million metric tonnes of greenhouse emissions last year, roughly 7.4% of the country's total.

Environmental groups said farmers could bear the financial burden of the cancelled subsidies, citing profits made from rising food prices and other agricultural subsidies that are still in place.

Just got back from Germany. The vineyards are amazing, especially in Rheinland-Pfalz and Hessen. They produce some great local wines.

That being said, I wondered about the economics behind their agriculture.

Of course, “climate change” is the real reason. If agriculture is less than 8% of the emissions, where are the rest produced?
