Being a librarian requires a Master's of Library Science. And most of the upper echelon jobs require specialized training. It's not as easy a process to become say, an academic librarian at the university level, as one might think. "People of Color" tend to go the paraprofessional route.

Actually, both librarians and libertarians tend to have gender issues. Most librarians are female and most libertarians are male.

Looks like the same type of people that were complaining that the Braves didn't have enough African Americans on the baseball team. The reasoning? Because the percentage of AA's in the country did not match the % of AA's on the team. I never heard the complaint about basketball. You would think they would want more white guys on basketball teams to "more accurately reflect the population."

Actually, libraries are not doing well since everyone has a computer. So, they're starting to rent stuff. Like power tools. But the article in the NYT didn't say if you had to pay for the vacuum cleaner or just return it within 3 days.

They could do like New York and no longer require minimum level qualified teachers, they dropped their competency exam because basically, whites passed and non whites did not fair as well.
So we dumbed down our classrooms in the 60's and 70's an now we dumb down our teachers. Pretty soon the kids can just teach themselves, they'll know as much as anyone else
