The average food stamp monthly benefit is 125 dollars in Louisiana. How is it possible for her to full up here cart with that amount of money? Remember, that is for the whole month. If somehow she is able to do it (why call her a bitch, what did she do to you?) then she has to make that cart last 30 days.
First that amount may be the case I just don't know. But every time I go I see someone with either a full basket or the last time I went I saw a woman with 2 full baskets paying with her EBT card. My wife and I itemized the shite in her cart.
6 bags of chips, lots of chicken, 3 packs of steak, TONS of ice cream, lots of candy, tv dinners and a roll of tape. There was a bunch of other stuff too like Powerades, Coke and those generic dranks they like. Seriously it was an entire basket of junk food. How do you explain that I weigh 170 pounds while someone starving for food so much that it requires government help, weighs 285?

Bottled water
Bags of Rice
Beans
Bags of noodles
Sauces
Spices
Stuff to actually cook a decent meal

You are also winning because that burger won't be $10 because a robot replaced what was meant to be a part time job for teens.
Burger flipping isn't a career.

There should be welfare stores or welfare sections of stores with generic healthy food choices only. If you are spending public money you must trade free for healthy.

WIC makes you do that. Why can't it be done across the board.

Because asking people to trade free for healthy would be rude.
I don't understand it but I think feelings are involved here.

We have jobs. We have the right to complain about those that decide not to have a job and want to live off our and your hard earned money. You really need to start thinking before typing.

Oh, it's not my feelings that would be hurt. I think beans and rice should be free and the rest have a cost. Frick their feelings.

Not only does the government spend a breathtaking $70 billion a year to give a record number of people food stamps, it wastes billions more to administer the bloated welfare program. Some states spend a lot more than others to distribute the free food vouchers and the discrepancies are downright outrageous. The government dedicates $3.6 billion annually just to administer food stamps (renamed Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program—SNAP to eliminate stigma), according to a federal audit that includes mind-boggling figures.
quote:
he nation’s food-stamp program has long been plagued with fraud and corruption that’s been well documented in a multitude of government audits in the last few years. Nevertheless, it hasn’t stopped the president from expanding the program to record levels in the name of eradicating what he calls an epidemic of “food insecurity.” Judicial Watch has reported extensively on this, dating back to 2012 when a federal investigation uncovered evidence that food-stamp recipients were using their welfare benefit to buy drugs, weapons and other contraband from unscrupulous vendors. A year later Judicial Watch broke a story about the U.S. government knowingly giving illegal immigrants food stamps for decades. That was followed by another disturbing scheme in which SNAP benefits were being sold online using social media such as Facebook, Twitter and ecommerce websites like Craigslist and eBay.

Illegal heroin kingpin was receiving $900 a month in foodstamps

The head of the largest heroin operation in Polk County, FL history, along with numerous others who work for him, are illegal aliens who collect foodstamps. Four of the operation’s women also collect WIC payments.
The foodstamp\SNAP program is one of the most abused programs in the country. You can't spin it otherwise.

$125 Per person, dum dum
Food benefits should be staples given out at a locally run distribution center. Non-self sufficient people should not get the same or better groceries than self-sufficient people.
There is no arguing with that.

It is an interesting conundrum, that the poorest people in America are also the fattest.
Anecdotical, but I am an admin of a Facebook group dedicated to personal finance and wealth building. It has over 20,000 members, so the questions range from information about Vanguard funds to "I can't make rent." Right now is tax return season, I sometimes click through the profiles of the ones getting EICs back and more often than not, they are overweight and are boasting about deserving this **insert ridiculous purchase. **
Yesterday, someone was talking about a $10k return and how they had never had that kind of money in their checking account. I clicked through and she's trash from Georgia that weighs 250#. Someone mentioned $10k was enough to at least go and sit down with a financial advisor and get started. Someone did the calculation on what $10k would look like in 30 years. All good information.
She started talking about how $2000 was set aside for tattoos for her and her boyfriend. She needed a new car (she drove an old 2012 Honda Civic with 80,000 miles - can't have that) and that she felt they needed to treat themselves with a big vacation.

I've always said there are reasons why some one is poor and if that reason isn't addressed no amount of money would solve poverty. If that person was in their mid to late 20s and put that in a nice mutual fund by the time they ready to retire it would break million easy.
