Well I hope those who supported the legalization of drugs are happy.

'The smell of pot is on every goddam corner': Comedian Caroline Hirsch slams the overpowering smell of marijuana that seems to waft across most of NYC
Comedy icon Caroline Hirsh, owner of Times Square's Caroline's on Broadway, condemned the ubiquitous usage of marijuana around New York City
Despite pot being legal for recreational use, the unpleasant smell of cannabis has become a bother to many New Yorkers walking the city streets
SNIP -
Recreational cannabis has been legal in New York for more than a year, though as of August 2022, no recreational cannabis is actually for sale legally anywhere inside of the state - sans for American Indian reservations.
Despite possession of marijuana being legal, its rampancy on New York City streets is not something that many city dwellers are celebrating.
Cannabis users are currently allowed to smoke any place that cigarette users are allowed to smoke - though not in vehicles and not in outdoor dining areas.
But the smell, which is strong and spreads fast, has pushed some New Yorkers to advocate for further limitations on use of the drug - similarly to alcohol being legal to consume, but not in public.

Same thing is true in many big cities.
I don’t believe it should be illegal, but damn if that smell isn’t annoying and everywhere you go at night.

It’s not just NYC. You can’t go anywhere without smelling weed. Drive around BR with windows down. About 1/2 of your fellow motorists are toking up.

The smell coming out of cars is increasing here.
I thought certain people were afraid of cops. Guess not.
Oh, and buzz off commie.

Here in the Caribbean I see a lot of people who will take a cigarette, remove some of the tobacco from the end and put in some pot, you can always tell because the end of the cigarette is a little wet where they have used moisture to do this.
Certainly that small amount of pot would have little of the intended impact, it would be like having one sip of beer. Which means the pot is laced with something. What Im certain they have no idea. And done by some fella high as a kite in some jungle in Columbia mixing clorox and ether, pcp, or fentanyl, and who knows what else to "cure" it.
To each his own, but Im certain the intent of legalizing it was not to have people smoking the aforementioned concoction while driving a truck, forklift, train, or taxi.

A spliff on the parade route was one of life's great pleasures back when I was young and dumb. It probably still is.

St. Louis checking in. And we haven’t even legalized recreational use (yet).

So, you think because people have to smell weed it should be illegal?
How feminine are you?

I made a similar argument recently in another thread. The only place where I differ with you is in banning it.
People can't learn from mistakes if they are barred from making mistakes.

Recent research suggests that smoking high-potency marijuana every day could increase the chances of developing psychosis by nearly five times compared to people who have never used marijuana. The amount of drug used, the age at first use, and genetic vulnerability have all been shown to influence this relationship. The strongest evidence to date concerns links between marijuana use and psychiatric disorders in those with a preexisting genetic or other vulnerability.
This constant and heavy use of high-potency weed is what leads to minds who think this:
...is okay.
Many pro-weed proponents don't want to acknowledge (much less discuss) the increase in potency and how to responsibly handle that in a legalized situation. Many like to refer to what weed used to be as opposed to what it is now and what it will be in the future.
quote:
RESULTS
A total of 38,681samples of cannabis preparations were received and analyzed between January 1, 1995 and December 31, 2014. The data showed that, while the number of marijuana samples seized over the last four years has declined, the number of sinsemilla samples has increased. Overall, the potency of illicit cannabis plant material has consistently risen over time since 1995 from approximately 4% in 1995 to approximately 12% in 2014. On the other hand, the CBD content has fallen on average from approximately 0.28% in 2001 to <0.15% in 2014, resulting in a change in the ratio of THC to CBD from 14 times in 1995 to approximately 80 times in 2014.
CONCLUSION
It is concluded that there is a shift in the production of illicit cannabis plant material from regular marijuana to sinsemilla. This increase in potency poses higher risk of cannabis use, particularly among adolescents.
The problem isn't legalization, it's the push for legalization without also pushing responsible use and manufacturing.

If there was no pot, there would be no libertarians.
