The Republican platform on immigration

The Republican platform on Mexican immigration is pretty dumb. What I mean is that they are focusing on the macro solution of building a wall.
Apparently some 40% simply fly over the border anyway.
To me, the entire immigration issue could be solve on a micro level if contractors and builders where forced to hire only english speaking US citizens with social security numbers, and this information with be submitted along with a building permit.
To me the issue is very clear, stop hiring immigrants and they will stop coming!
It's like the Republicans public denounce illegal immigrantion but ignore that they make up the majority of our construction force.
I understand why contractors and builders hire Mexicans, bc it mean cheaper labor and more profit but to me it's employers that should be penalized for hiring illegal labor.
The government loses money bc illegal immigrants are not taxes on their cash payment and the economy loses a shite ton of money too bc they send money back to Mexico .

Not all illegals are paid in cash

Hmm, how about stopping other things than hiring them; like food stamps, housing, school and major medical benefits that Americans have to pay for now?

Well then what kind of fake IDs are they using to conduct banking transactions?

Fake drivers licenses, fake socials. The companies are paying taxes on them, they are paying their health insurance. As long as you don't have to use an I9 you can do all of that.

I honestly have no problem with guest workers and what not because let's face it there's a lot of "dirty jobs" Americans simply won't do (yes, it's true).
My problem is giving non-citizens free healthcare and welfare. And the bigger problem of anchor babies.

So they are breaking multiple laws?

There are lots of ways to curtail illegal immigration without building a wall. The problem is that neither side has the will to enact these policies because they will be smeared as cruel and racist by the folks that flat out don't want to curtail illegal immigration in the first place.
Also, even if this congress and president did pass these measures, they will simply be rescinded by following congresses and presidents who don't share either the will or political interest in stopping illegal immigration. And as we see now, certain localities will simply ignore enforcing the law. We see what happened when Reagan took the "humanitarian" route of granting amnesty to those already here under the assumption that the problem would then be solved going forward. It wasn't. Amnesty was a disaster.
The wall at least is a permanent barrier that cannot so easily be undone by future leaders who seek to undermine good faith efforts at halting the flow of foreign migrants. There are sizable factions on the left (and many on the right as well), regardless of hollow remarks they may make publicly to pretend as though they believe in halting illegal immigration, who simply don't think it is a problem to begin with. The wall is not perfect solution by any means, but it can be an important tool that works in conjunction with other measures.

Policies can change with the stroke of a pen.
A Big Beautiful Wall is harder to remove.

Federal law (8 U.S. Code § 1324a - Unlawful employment of aliens) already requires employers to verify citizenship or eligibility to work in the US, but the law is seldom enforced.
If politicians were serious about II, they would fine or lock up every contractor, meat plant owner, farmer, restaurant owner, etc. who illegally employs illegal aliens.
But the fat cats love the cheap labor and don't want it to end. They just make a show of building a wall and such to get the votes of the gullible.
