White guilt now has a name and coming soon: disability payments

This was sent to me from a colleague.
On Monday, I mentioned the results of the Miss America pageant casually in a class full of college freshmen and sophomores (I'm a professor). I was making fun of the cup girl.
A particularly upset student (who is a brilliant young lady, but probably an OT 4) went off on me about being sexist and "watching crap that dehumanizes women."

I saw an example of this at Harvard a few years ago. As I walked around the campus I kept seeing these signs urging Harvard women to report abuse by their boyfriends.
"Abuse isn't always physical. Does your boyfriend ever change the channel when you're watching TV? Does your boyfriend ever disagree with your opinion? If so, call the Harvard Abuse Hotline."

I watched 2 minutes. People are crazy.
I have NEVER met a man that doesn't hog the remote. That isn't fricking abuse, it's what men do. I couldn't care less. I'm not a whiny high maintenance bitch though, so it doesn't bother me in the slightest.
Eta: And always agreeing is boring. I love healthy debate. People are too damn sensitive.

Either you missed the sarcasm, or I'm calling BS.

Honestly, you would be surprised at what some people consider "abuse".
I've been in a verbally abusive relationship before. But it damn sure wasn't over the remote or disagreeing with my opinion.

I'm more into macroaggression, like punching these morons in the face.

Going on one date with a liberal does not count as an abusive relationship.

Nah this was during college. It was pretty bad.
But, using these definitions, I could classify that date as abuse. I've never disagreed with someone so much in my life.

I overheard my teenage sons talking about "trigger warnings" and "micro aggressions" the other day. If a lib-prog,feminist female would have heard their condescending and sardonic commentary the feminist would have probably burst into flames.
It made me proud

How insulting to women who have actually suffered real physical and emotional abuse!

In surgery, I was once asked if I needed a step to stand on so I could see the procedure more easily.
I was immediately outraged. How dare they?! Of course I needed something to stand on, but it is not their place to ask such a thing.
I demand to be recognized as a person, not my height.
