Four cities in the United States have a place among the top 50 most dangerous cities in the world (on the basis of murder per capita statistics). St. Louis ranks 15th on the list with a murder rate of 59.23 per 100,000 inhabitants, a rise from 2015's rate of 49.93, making it the most dangerous urban area in the country by a landslide. The city is also present in rankings based on considerations for other crimes – the Missouri city has a burglary rate of 606.9 per 100,000 and an aggravated assault rate of 317.7 per 100,000. This has led many to the conclusion that St. Louis is the most dangerous city in the US.

quote:

Although Chicago is often cited as the most dangerous urban area in the United States, even with a near record-breaking 762 murders in 2016, the murder rate remains at 28.2, making its position fall further on the list.

quote:

Of the world’s 13 largest cities, Karachi is the most dangerous, according to data compiled by the media organization Al Jazeera. Threats of terrorism and sectarian violence loom large in this Pakistani hub city with about 24 million inhabitants. The homicide rate is 12.3 per 100,000 people, Worldatlas says.

Asian cities, even those with a bit of a reputation for being violent such as Manila and Bangkok, are far down the list of violent crime. Meanwhile, Latin America is a maelstrom of violence and murder.

19 Baltimore, U.S.A. 54.98
25 Guatemala, Guatemala 47.17
32 New Orleans, U.S.A. 41.44

Only been to 3 so far. I'm surprised Brazil has so many.

These are the only countries that have a top 50 city? So Eastern Europe just doesn't keep good records? bullshite South Africa is the only country in the Eastern Hemisphere with a city on the list? Yeah okay...

Countries that made the list:
Venezuela
Honduras
El Salvador
Mexico
Colombia
South Africa
Brazil
U.S.A
Guatemala
Jamaica

And holy shite Brazil. You have over 20 cities on there.

Some aggressive genetic profiles in that place. Africa goes Tribalism rogue on occasion, in the Bush...but it seems that there is something in the Nature of those SA folk that defies even what is supposedly a modern techno-Society. Of course, it is that very 'bug' that manifest in those USA Cities. It only exists because we tolerate it.

And it is that basic genetic Nature of tolerating resistance and disrespect for Rule of Law as opposed to "Jungle Law" that is the cultural culprit...and that many of us fear that we are importing in our generous Immimgration/No Border Policy. It's like a virus...once rampant...hard to stop.

Notice no Chicago?

Chicago is 15th in murder rate in the US.
In addition to the dubious four of the OP, Chicago trails Philly, Atlanta, D.C., Newark, Pittsburg, Milwaukee, Cincy, and others.

The democrat politics undercutting Rahm have been fascinating

No those numbers are right for the whole world. People in the old world don't kill eachother like we do over here. Over there it's mostly wars which don't count in these statistics.

The city and county are independent and separate. StL CITY is only 315K citizens and a small area along the river. The north side of the city is the hell-hole and crime ridden. StL COUNTY is over 1M citizens and has a MUCH lower crime rate.

The entire Metro Area (MO & IL) is approx. 3M citizens in 11 counties and the city. And also a much lower crime rate than the city.

As mentioned, even the most dangerous city in Asia, Karachi, has a murder rate that is significantly lower than the cities on the list.

Respect for tradition, elders, and law is prevalent in Asia. Furthermore, there is a strict legal system of punishment to deter violent crime. An apprehended armed robber could find himself without hands. A street thug could find himself stripped and caned. There are other factors in play as well, such as an authoritarian criminal justice system and the influence of Eastern religion.
