Some older woman with that typical old leftist/feminazi look and voice was walking around Lowe's the other day purposely talking loudly enough on her phone for everyone around her could hear everything she was spouting, including something like, "We just see everything through our white privilege lens ...blahbitty blah blah."

Woman, this is my safe space from your type. Go home and make your wife a vegan sammich or something.

frick that cock smoker for making that a Black only issue, as of whites don’t have that same situation, ultimately none of that matters though and really drives many people to work harder.

I had a single Mother, check
Never met my dad, check
No private education, check
No tutor, check
Helped mom with bills, check
Insinuating blacks can’t get academic scholarships... that’s cool

Seeing how hard my mom worked makes me strive to give my family a better life, and I’m greatful

I refuse to feel bad for the good life choices of my immediate ancestors, which is exactly what privilege is. I'm proud I had good parents, and I'm going to try as hard as I can to privilege my kid as much as possible

I'm not saying you should feel bad, and I don't get into the whole privilege thing, but this isn't really a fair assessment of the concept.

In today's society, everyone is a winner. Everyone gets participation trophies.

So this whole long OP about a race is pointless. Unless you're an illegal... then you better keep running cause I just called ICE.

the underlying premise is that black people are inherently incapable of making responsible life decisions.

It isn't race or racism that holds black Americans back, it is their personal life choices.

Indisputable evidence of this would be any blacks not from the US that come here invariably out perform native blacks.
The same can be said of any other ethnic group or whites for that matter.

What they fail to mention is that in life, there is not just one winner. Everyone who crosses the finish line is a winner in real life. It may take you longer because you have further to go and more obstacles to overcome, but everyone can be successful with the right priorities and work ethic.

The message to every one of those kids at the back that their goal should be to ensure that their kids start closer to the finish line when it is their turn to race.

the concept is flawed. It's based on the idea that now virtually all vestiges of overt racism in society are gone, implicit racism still oppresses minorities and is the reason they continue to do poorly in society. The research basis for this relies almost exclusively on a single psychological test, the IAT implied associations test, that since the 90s has been purported to show wide spread subconscious racist associations. The only problem is that test is increasingly being shown to be meaningless and very bad social science. When corrected for the overtly held positions of participants ( ie avowed conscious discriminatory beliefs) recent studies now show that this iat score has zero predictive value on whether people actually behave in a discriminative manner in real life. The implication of this is that so called implied racial bias in society does not actually translate to real life discrimination, only consciously held beliefs matter. Iat test underpins all the modern Social science positions on race. NYMag psychology today national review NY Times

I think we agree but I have some basic social-survival (as in how to live in the world and not go insane and/or kill your neighbor) counterpoints. Bookmarking for tomorrow because I'm spent.

"Privilege" is designed to bash whites and white males. Disregard. It's Marxist, anti-civilization bullshite.

Anyone who has spent a significant amount of time in poor white communities would immediately see the idiocy of a scenario described.
