The Hollywood reaction to Harvey Weinstein is typical

This man preyed on young women for years. From what I understand this is one of the worst kept secrets in Hollywood. Hell...they were openly joking about his misconduct at the Oscars several years ago. Everyone in the room laughed uproariously when the joke dropped. So obviously there is a history here.
You can't sit there and tell me that celebs like Meryl Streep are just now finding out about this. So long as he remained a loyal leftist who continued to dump millions of dollars into the Democratic Party, his behavior was tolerated. Now that it's out in the open, everyone has to pretend that this is the first they are hearing about it.
Disgusting. And shameful.

Well the good news is they no longer have a high horse to stand on. Harvey is nothing in the grand scheme and just a symptom of the malignant cancer that is the Hollywood system. They all know the dark underbelly of casting couches, rape, and pedophilia. Sorry, but if you're in a conversation with Rob Reiner telling you how he is morally superior, tell him that he defended Weinstein and Cosby by not immediately holding a press conference by denouncing them.
And there are many more vile figures that people like Reiner know about but still won't say or really condemn. Hell, people to this day still defend Polanski and (I feel like we've lost sight of this) Woody Allen fricking, marrying, and likely raping his adopted daughter. Let's not water it down with step-daughter, because she was brutally abused in the past, I don't think her first adopted father did all that much, and Woody is a sexual predator who should be in prison. Not only is he the most overrated director of all time (never got the love for his work), but he's also one of the biggest monsters in Hollywood. Where's the outrage from them?
Their hypocrisy is now front and center. frick them for looking down at the middle of the country as being a bunch of racist idiots when they knowingly let pedophilia infect their town.

The thing that's so disgusting about it is that it's not like he was trying to make love to beautiful young women or to share a moment with them. He wasn't trying to share pleasure with them, he was trying to defile them.
He is a very dark person.

This will shut them up for at least a few elections.
Bill the masher quieted that down for a decade.

Weinstein has been for the most part exiled, striped of his company (which is removing his name from it), and generally shamed.
Hollywood may have sat on the "worst kept secret" but once that secret is out, they have come down hard.

I am SHOCKED that Reiner is behaving exactly like Weinstein (defending pigs of hollyweird).

TBT: Harvey Weinstein Once Wrote an Op-Ed Defending Child Rapist Roman Polanski

The petition has now been signed by more than 70 film industry luminaries, including Polanski's fellow directors Michael Mann, Wim Wenders, Pedro Almodóvar, Darren Aronofsky, Terry Gilliam, Julian Schnabel, the Dardenne brothers, Alejandro González Iñárritu, Wong Kar-Wai, Walter Salles and Jonathan Demme. Actors Tilda Swinton, Monica Bellucci and Asia Argento, as well as producer Harvey Weinstein, have also put their names on the petition. Yesterday, Weinstein stated he was "calling on every film-maker we can to help fix this terrible situation".

Harvey Weinstein Helped Woody Allen Save His Career After Abuse Allegations
At that point a well-established icon in the film world thanks to films like “Annie Hall” and “Manhattan,” Allen’s brand was suddenly toxic. The director “was shunned by Hollywood’s movie community,” wrote the Los Angeles Times at the time. Weinstein, though, was unperturbed by Allen’s reputation. “Shunned by Hollywood means nothing to Miramax,” Weinstein told the L.A. Times. “We’re talking about a comic genius.”

Harvey Weinstein in 2009: 'Hollywood has the best moral compass'
Here's what he told the Los Angeles Times in an article published Oct. 1, 2009 (emphasis added):
In an interview, Weinstein said that people generally misunderstand what happened to Polanski at sentencing. He's not convinced public opinion is running against the filmmaker and dismisses the categorization of Hollywood as amoral. "Hollywood has the best moral compass, because it has compassion," Weinstein said. "We were the people who did the fundraising telethon for the victims of 9/11. We were there for the victims of Katrina and any world catastrophe."

That's not what he said. He was talking about groupies and how easy they were and that you could grab them by the pussy and they wouldn't care. He never said he actually did it. Just basically said you could get away with it

Are you "Meathead" Reiner IRL?
Seems a strange hill to defend to me.

Because nobody else wants to be investigated.
This is take one for the team play.
"he's a rogue Producer, we had no idea...cutlure of rape? Oh no...nothing to see here...just let us get back to un-policed behavior."

How brave of them. Waiting for a man to be in the midst of his death throes before casting him aside like the sickness he is. And many of those who are dropping the hammer on him more than likely knew of his behavior going back many years.

Just heard a liberal commentator remark than Weinstein is just a number in a epidemic on full display when the people just elect a predator to the White House.
