Not saying I agree with it, but it is not nearly as bad as laws against drugs consumed by adults, yet if you have a medical license, you can prescribe much much more lethal shite and just call it practicing medicine, or laws governed by the FDA that prop up mega corporations and eliminate their competition. Laws against personal firearm ownership, Laws against you collecting rainwater. Sin taxes of all shapes and sizes that will never go away, just morph into another sin tax if the said aim of curbing human behavior is achieved, Etc...

Man, there are so many things that point to America not being the land of liberty it so espouses itself as being, it's comical.

This is, simply put, what happens when your central government gets too big. Our forefathers tried their damndest to prevent this, but alas, the dog returns to its own vomit because it forgot what it tasted like.

Depends on the subject. What are some of the things that you're basing that on?

Fantastic point.

The government can regulate everyones use of a seatbelt but if someone chooses to kill a human being up to a day before it leaves the birth canal then it ids a private choice that the government MUST stay out of.

Exactly, what a bunch of morons our government is. I should be able to drive 100mph through a neighborhood full of kids playing and riding bicycles because freedom, idiot.

You don't win arguments or score points by going to the ridiculous and absurd? When people discuss freedom and liberty, they don't mean anarchy, and people not wearing a seat belt or helmet and causing injury or death to themselves is just part of nature's great plan. Let natural selection work the way it was supposed to work. Years ago, people were eaten by lions or fell off the cliff doing stupid shite. If people want to do stupid shite, don't stop them.

Good,

I have seen accidents where an unrestrained person has caused significant damage and in 2 cases death on a restrained person in another vehicle.

It's rare, but it does happen.

I don't think Lichtenstein has such a law, but I could be wrong.

As humans evolve laws change, it's potentially a public safety issue. And is it really a big deal to wear a seatbelt? Seems like a petty thing to argue.

I happen to support the law mainly because it helps encourage idiot parents to restrain their kids who have no say on the subject. I honestly believe children have been saved because of this law.

But let's go ahead and get the real reason of its origin out there as well. Insurance lobbyists paid for this and some politicians got richer to pass the law. It's saved the insurance industry tons of money in liabilities over the years and that's just how politics work, especially in Louisiana.
