Now up to 300% due to charges of dumping and illegal trade practices.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. Commerce Department on Friday notched up proposed trade duties on Bombardier Inc CSeries jets to nearly 300 percent, affirming Boeing Co’s complaint that the Canadian company received illegal subsidies and dumped the planes at “absurdly low” prices.

The decision underscored the defensive trade policy of U.S. President Donald Trump, and could effectively halt sales of Bombardier’s innovative new plane to U.S. airlines by quadrupling the cost of the jets imported to the United States.

This puts the Delta deal in jeopardy, which could spell the end for the C-Series jet.

While I do like to see Delta struggle, this is not good for the US aviation industry. It's just good for Boeing.

Why would you like to see Delta struggle? They are the best of the legacies now.

They are known for buying and keeping under valued products. Their deal with Bombardier was so good that it constitutes dumping.

The Canadians are pissed.

But they screwed up big time with this one. It's on them.

Oh god you're probably a United employee.

ETA: Yes I fully realize who has their major hub at DFW, I just wanted a reason to insult United.

DFW is a major hub for one airline and Love Field is a major hub for another. I work at one of those two.

Sounds like the U.S. Commerce Department is simply following the “free trade” agreement set in place long ago.

Bombardier should have considered the agreement prior to making a business deal that violated the “free trade” agreement.

That isn't free trade. It's fair trade.

Well it’s probably under the umbrella of NAFTA and I was told that NAFTA was “free trade”.

Notice I put free trade in quotes in my post you responded to. I did that for a reason.

I'm a huge Delta guy - they are easily the best global American airline and it isn't particularly close.
