He was born Jewish but denounced himself from the religion during WW2. His childhood name was Schwartz and he changed it to Soros and converted to Christianity.

quote:I didn't say he wasn't bad. And it doesn't appear that he's actually an official enemy of the state in Israel, although they are essentially arguing it:
Hungary and Israel have named him as Enemy of the State.
Hungary is his home country, and he's a Jew.
How bad do you think he is again....
Israel backs Hungary, says financier Soros is a threat
quote:And maybe that is true. Then again, the popular sentiment here, at least about Israel having too much influence on the US, may be considered a sentiment that would be met with similar criticism by Israel.
"In no way was the statement (by the ambassador) meant to delegitimize criticism of George Soros, who continuously undermines Israel's democratically elected governments," said foreign ministry spokesman Emmanuel Nahshon, adding that Soros funded organizations "that defame the Jewish state and seek to deny it the right to defend itself".
And besides, given the narrative on the "deep state" and "establishment" trying to oust Trump, shouldn't we also be skeptical of the views of the same types of people in other countries as well?
That being said, I'm not debating that he tries to influence a lot of things, and those things are often a negative. I'm just saying that it gets taken to a point beyond plausibility.
