How wise were the founders? Without the Electoral College, the population centers in just a very few states would control the Oval Office for the entire country.

Why would we want just a few heavily populated cities or states deciding who the POTUS should be? With electoral votes in play, every state matters.

How wise of the founders!!

Not wise enough to realize pence would betray his country for a piece of silver.

If we certify fraudulent electors, then we don’t have the protection of the system you describe.

It's the same philosophy used when they created the Senate and the HOR.

Moving to a parliamentary system would be less effective than moving to a mixed-member proportional representation system for House seats akin to how Germany does it. Plus, I don't think eliminating the executive branch is a reasonable expectation

Well now it’s just a few voters in a handful of swing states so I’m not really sure it’s working like it planned too. There are more Trump voters in New York and California than there are in any red state, and none of them have a voice either. If we destroyed the electoral college, politicians would just pander to the northeast and west coasts, so that’s not a solution, but the system as is, isn’t working as intended either. They should break up state electors along percentages or something to make candidates campaign everywhere

The hard left has been working their asses off to get rid of the electoral college. If they succeed the president will be determined by New York, LA, San Fran, Chicago, Houston, and Dallas. Hell, it probably won't even take all of those cities, but I am not going to do the math this morning.

All urban centers with serious crime and decay problems because of their hard left leadership, yet they will decide the president. Who they would elect will make Biden look like a scholar.

Yes, but unfortunately the demorat party figured out how to harvest fake ballots in those urban centers to take total control of swing state electoral votes. Demorats win. America loses.

Controlled opposition bitches and votes to continue funding profligate spending and political corruption in both parties, otherwise known as the uniparty.

Then we have to get into the reason Pelosi did not want the National Guard there. She needed the doors tobe opened soshe could declare and end to the session only to later declare the temporary session would not consider any voting irregularities.

It was planned.

Nothing stopped GOP House or Senate members from objecting once the building was cleared and the count resumed. Not Pence or Pelosi, or anyone.

There were objections to PA’s certification after the session reconvened for example.

They could do this.

Each state gives the state popular vote winner 2 Electoral votes. Then in each congressional district, the popular vote winner in each district receives an additional Electoral vote.

The population centers in just a very few states decide today's elections.

Without the EC though, they wouldn't even have to focus on the swing areas of the swing states. Pop culture would win handily time and time again, and we'd have ceased to exist 60 years ago.

Except we found out the swing states can just put everything on hold while those big democrat ran cities found enough ballots for their candidate.

Send the contested slates of electors to their state legislatures. Then they could determine if they were seated according to the laws that those legislators established.

That was easy.

Or it could make the votes of Republicans in states like California count more and potentially motivate more conservatives to vote. Might also help us chip away at the lame two party stranglehold on our political system.
