The battle between Louisiana and Texas for ExxonMobil Chemical Co. and Saudi Basic Industries Corp.’s “world-scale” petrochemical complex is over, and Texas won.
The partners have chosen a site in San Patricio County, Texas, for the proposed petrochemical plant, which will provide the building blocks for polyester, anti-freeze, plastic bottles and food packaging.
Ascension and St. James parishes were among the four sites considered for the plant. The fourth also was in Texas.
The proposed multibillion-dollar investment would include an ethane steam cracker capable of producing nearly 2 million tons of ethylene a year. If built, the project would create 600 full-time jobs, 3,500 indirect jobs and support thousands more jobs during the construction phase. It also is expected to generate more than $22 billion in economic output during the construction phase and more than $50 billion in economic output during the first six years of operations.

Elections have consequences including this one too. Thanks to Governor Honor Code and bible thumpers that voted for him.
This is what happens when you elect tax and spend, anti-business liberal democrats that only see the energy sector as a piggy bank to shake down especially with all the frivolous lawsuits he's waging against oil and gas that has only scared away new investments.
When your economy is in a downturn, the very last thing you should be doing is kicking it while its down like JBE is doing. JBE has only made it clear that energy capital is not wanted in Louisiana and frick him and his voters for it.
While Louisiana is looking to raise taxes and regulations, Louisiana’s neighbors are noticing. They’re licking their lips as they benefit.

Who needs a $10 billion plant when you have West Point

Louisiana is going to have an even worse worker drain in the next few years

Blame Dardenne/Angelle for making that into a bipartisan issue through relentless character assassination for several months and JBE used that to hide from his liberal tax and spend voting record in the statehouse.
All because they didn't have the conservative and professional credentials that Vitter had.
At least Dardenne was smart enough to know that he's done as a republican and went to work for JBE. Angelle got his shite pushed in a year later by a reality YouTube star ex cop.
frick them.

Louisiana doesn't need new jobs and new industry. JBE can just bloodlet the citizens over and over to keep the government in high cotton.

I thought big companies liked 3rd world countries because it was cheaper?

Correct, it was.
It only fell out because of factors beyond Louisiana's control.
Oil and Gas is what drives this states economy and its all we have and we should not be doing a fricking thing to kick it while its down like JBE is doing but he is and we're losing jobs and economic capital because of it.

Of course we did. Was this even a competition?

The port of Corpus Christi just got a huge boost.

Jindal ran this state into the ground. He ran a National campaign for his entire 2nd term at our expense.

Yeah I don't think it should ever be a surprise when a business chooses Texas over just about anywhere else. But what specifically did JBE do wrong here?

No. Because Louisiana had the wrong Governor and wrong tax, business and legal climate in place to win a fight like this.
Southern states from Texas to the Carolinas are taking advantage of Louisiana's stupidity for electing a liberal tax and spend, anti business democrat as Governor.

What did JBE do to lose this? The article does not say. Its also laughable to think that, when given a choice, companies are going to choose Louisiana over Texas.

We love us some Honor code don't we folks.

Yea this one hurts our state badly. This would've been a huge boost to the state. Can't say I blame them one bit though for choosing a business friendly Texas over our state. If you want to get bombarded with taxes and lawsuits then Louisiana is the state for you!

Do you exclusively read The Hayride and LABI newsletters? Surely Louisianas atrocious infrastructure and abysmal public schools, which existed way before Edwards, have something to do with this decision??
