Article said the bill was a mistake and the state apologized.

So why is this post cluttering up my board?

Yes, charge her family for her accident!

Unless she purposely drove her car into a guard rail designed to destroy you on impact instead of absorbing the impact forcing you to bounce off, that bird don't fly in the real world if you are a politician..

Come on man. You gotta do better than this. If you're trying to make a point here (not sure what) you didn't succeed.

Tragedy+clerical error=/=political point.

It's standard to make the claim and the driver's insurance company will pay for property damage. If they overlooked that the driver died and that they might not want the optics of such a claim, oops, apologize and move on.

I believe the political point to be made is the failure of the state government to immediately replace death spears on the highway when the government already acknowledges that these are a bad, failed design that the manufacturer created in order to save money.

The state is culpable in her death.

Reminds me of a show I saw about the Titanic and how the White Star Fleet sent bills to the families of the band members who were playing on the deck and eventually drowned for their uniforms.

The article said she hit the end of the guard rail with her driver side door and instead of collapsing or bouncing it instead impailed her head and chest into the back seat killing her instantly.

Wow.

Government sucks and is run by incompetent half wits?

I'm guessing this is the point you're trying to make on the political board?

Any chance they apologized once they received plenty of bad press and angry responses from those in the community?
