Taxpayers paid $162.5M for union work

The article is a bit misleading as it only discusses what is called "official time".
Having been in FedGov for almost 30 years, let me clarify.
"Official time" is not limited to union officials doing solely union business. I agree with those on this board who take issue with that (and before becoming a manager, I was not only covered by a CBA but also a dues-paying member, and if I were to go back to a non-managerial position covered by the CBA I would once again join).
It also includes union-covered employees filing grievances (e.g. an employee filing a grievance believing that the supervisor provided an unfair annual appraisal) and the employee's and steward's time in attempting to settle the issue.

Unions
For weak-willed, weak-minded simpletons that have no faith in their capacity to do job and draw fair compensation.
If someone only paid me $10 an hour to write code, I find a new contract or learn a trade that paid better.
