Study provides tangible evidence GMO corn is dangerous

The new peer-reviewed study led by Dr Michael Antoniou at King’s College London describes the effects of the process of genetic engineering on the composition of a genetically modified Roundup-resistant GMO corn variety, NK603.
“Our study clearly shows that the GM transformation process results in profound compositional differences in NK603, demonstrating that this GMO corn is not substantially equivalent to its non-GMO counterpart. The marked increase in putrescine and especially cadaverine is a concern since these substances are potentially toxic, being reported as enhancers of the effects of histamine, thus heightening allergic reactions, and both have been implicated in the formation of carcinogenic nitrosamines with nitrite in meat products. Our results call for a more thorough evaluation of the safety of NK603 corn consumption on a long-term basis.” Dr. Antoniou stated.
In-depth analysis of types of proteins (“proteomics”) and small biochemical molecules (“metabolomics”) revealed major compositional differences between NK603 and its non-GMO parent. The results obtained show not only disturbances in energy utilisation and oxidative stress (damage to cells and tissues by reactive oxygen), but worryingly large increases in certain substances (polyamines).
Polyamines found to be present in increased amounts in GMO NK603 corn include putrescine and cadaverine, which can produce various toxic effects. For example, they enhance the effects of histamine, thus heightening allergic reactions, and both have been implicated in the formation of carcinogenic substances called nitrosamines.
Overall, the findings of this study disprove industry and regulatory agency claims that NK603 is ‘substantially equivalent’ to its non-GMO counterpart and suggest that a more thorough evaluation of the safety of consuming products derived from this GMO corn on a long term basis should be undertaken.......

So GMO corn is a pro-histamine? You realize this is a nootropic discovery and will likely be used, if true, to enhance cognitive abilities?
Dangerous? Lol
Dangerous? Lol

Title should read: Study links GMO corn as a pro-histamine, because that's all it does.

it is most definitely evidence in a peer reviewed journal. Evidence does not prove anything on its own.
Do you science, bro?

Science is dying. Fact.
It appears to be making a resurgence. Peer reviewed studies objectively looking into what government and large corporations claim is exactly what science should be.

Overactive histamines are problematic and have ties to the current allergy epidemic in this country.

substantially equivalent’
Descriptives like this should be banned in science. For example humans are substantially equivalent to apes however the minor differences really set us apart.
With that said, if GMO corn is producing proteins that stimulates histamine production in humans this is good info to know and should be labeled as such so that people can make the decision of whether or not they want to consume corn that gives them sniffles all day long.

That or "study shows chemical composition of GMO corn is SIGNIFICANTLY different than chemical composition of non-GMO corn."
FIFY. The government has claimed over and over they are not significantly different and therefore refused to do safety testing. This blows that stance out of the water.

Just feed all the gmo stuff to starving people

Incorrect. It is dangerous until proven to be safe (which has not happened).

is this why soo many pussy arse kids are allergic to peanuts?
i thought it was the estrogen in the water

The histamine H3 receptor is a pre-synaptic auto- and hetero-receptor that controls the release of histamine and a variety of other neurotransmitters in the brain. As such, modulation of the histamine H(3) receptor is expected to affect wake via control of the release of histamine and to affect cognition via regulation of several other neurotransmitters including acetylcholine and norepinephrine. Over the last several years numerous pre-clinical studies have shown that histamine H3 antagonists promote wakefulness, improve cognition, and in some cases affect food intake. Based on the interest level generated from these early pharmacology studies, and following the cloning and expression of the human histamine H3 receptor, many pharmaceutical companies began drug discovery programs aimed at the identification of histamine H3 antagonists suitable for human clinical trials. These efforts have led to many new chemotypes, and several promising compounds have recently entered the clinic for a variety of conditions, including ADHD, Narcolepsy, EDS associated with Narcolepsy, Cognitive disorders and Schizophrenia. Recent efforts towards the identification and pharmacological characterization of novel histamine H3 antagonists will be discussed.
