Header is the title of the article.

A better title would be: State Legislators Announce Coalition To Enact More Stringent Gun Control

Leaving this here for those interested. Got work to do today.

quote:

State Legislators from across the U.S. announced the creation of a nonpartisan coalition focused on gun violence prevention Monday.

The group, dubbed American State Legislators For Gun Violence Prevention (ASLGVP), said that they feel the need to take action seeing as, “Congress [has] failed in its responsibility to do something about this issue [of gun violence].”

quote:

The group claims to currently have nearly 200 members from all 50 states, Washington, D.C. and Puerto Rico, but will not yet publish the list of members, fearing political backlash.

ASLGVP plans to address a range of issues, including: domestic violence and the presence to guns, how to effectively intervene in communities impacted by gun violence, mandatory background checks when purchasing a firearm in any arena and, overall, the way laws in one state may effect the trafficking of guns across state lines into another.

So they're focusing on state legislation now, working harder behind the scenes in secrecy.

Hmm, I wonder who our La ASLGVP member(s) is.

The government is incapable of granting folks a sense of personal responsibility.

What law has even been enacted that made folks more personally responsible for their own actions?

3 strikes law ever stop anyone from killing another?

when I hear "gun violence" it is similar to the reaction I have for hate crime murders...murder is murder. premeditation, intent, but no one cares about motive because no motive is good.

same for violence...who cares if someone murders someone with a knife, club, slab of marble, nylon stockings or a gun, the end result is the same

people managed to get along quite well in the slaughtering department before the invention of the firearm

personally, I'll take a bullet over being bludgeoned to death...or any of the methods used for capital punishment

Seems as if they were really concerned about innocent loss of life they would be more concerned about the numbers involving vehicular homicides.

Without reading I presume their plan is to decriminalize drug trade?

Or is it something asinine?

Probably that rocket scientist Barbara Norton, who a year or two ago authored a bill to MANDATE that gun owners keep their guns locked in some sort of storage contraption.

Hard to prove but I would think those longer prison sentences have deprived lots of killers of opportunity.
