If this is true it is absolutely heinous and I think cannot be tolerated at all

quote:

Syrian President Bashar Assad has installed a crematorium in his most infamous prison complex in order to hide evidence of mass murder, according to newly-declassified U.S. intelligence. "We now believe that the Syrian regime has installed a crematorium in the Saydnaya Prison Complex which could dispose of detainees remains with little evidence," Stuart Jones, the acting assistant secretary of near eastern affairs, told reporters Monday at the State Department. "Although the regimes' many atrocities are well-documented, we believe that the building of a crematorium is an effort to cover up the extent of mass murders taking place in Saydnaya prison."

quote:

The State Department said it believed that about 50 detainees a day are being hanged at Saydnaya military prison, about 45 minutes from Damascus. Many of the bodies, it said, are then being burned in the crematorium.

BTW- intel believes the vast majority of these prisoners were detained extrajudicially, so golden nugget and co can frick off with their "they deserved it" claim

If they're Wahhabist I see no problem with it.

How can we trust this to be sufficiently verified, and by whom? More importantly, what is the desired reaction to this intel? And to what ends?

For someone who doesn't believe in the holocaust, he sure is following a certain playbook.

When Assad is uprooted and replaced with an isis or a Wahhabis leader, this crematorium will be put to use on the remaining alawhites and Christians and no one will give a shite.

Waiting for all the Assad apologists to get in here and tell us why Syria would be so much more stable with him.

If you're going to murder that many people, a crematorium only makes sense. You don't want all those bodies just laying around the place.

Very important to verify that this is not another "Tonking bay incident". We know all goverments have no problem inventing excuses to get a war started.

With or without Assad it will continue to be a shithole like most of the Middle East. It's almost like they want to live in a backwards society, like that is part of their beliefs or something.

The guy is almost certainly a mass murderer, but if we remove him (which is the only way he leaves power) then his replacement will be worse ten-fold.
