Le Pen wants a 75% tax rate on those making more than 100,000 if memory serves.
She also wants more state ownership of large industries like Airbus, Peugot, Banks, etc.
She is no Thatcher. She is more like Huey Long with no brains when it comes to Russia.

Macron finished with the most votes and is the heavy favorite to not only win the run off but to do so with 60%+

Well these polls really are worlds apart. Unless Macron craters in the coming weeks, there really isn't much suspense here.

This, the only real US Equivalent that would portend a Le Pen win is Sanders winning the Michigan primary and the polling in that was nowhere near as extensive as the polling here (Michigan had at best handful of polls in tue lead up to the primary, the French second round already has more polling)

She is also in support of public subsidies for abortion, keeping the death penalty abolished, spending more money on welfare for the poor and lowering the retirement age for elderly to start getting their version of social security.
She just happens to really, really hate immigrants, the EU, globalization, and as you say, has a bizzare love of Putin.

Its not all that bizarre, the Russians bankroll her party because they want to weaken the EU. The only bizarre part about it is how open it is and how it apparently doesn't matter to a small minority of French voters.

With a group of 5, Macron and Le Pen are in the runoff. Macron will crush her in the general election. Le Pen is pro Russian and interested in nationalizing French industry, and is not a free market politician, and is a modern day Musselini in a dress.
