Typical. They're okay with RBG spending a hundred years on the court, but now that Trump is poised to appoint 2-3 Justices in his first term, we need 18 year term limits.

Okay...

It seems like a reasonable thing though.

The Supreme Court has way too much power.

Should do this at the very end of Trump's 2nd term after he's stacked the court and have current justices grandfathered in.

That would be awesome.

And appoint conservative justices in their 40's or 50's.

I wouldn't mind a term limit of something like 20 years, but it would take a constitutional amendment so it's highly unlikely to happen.

would have to grandfather in all current ones or else it is just a political stunt regardless of which side does it.

probably a nonstarter, court packing (increasing the number of seats) is more likely

What is the original reason for no limit for Supreme Court justices?

Odds that this article would have ever been published if Killery had won?

It was believed that if they weren't subject to constant elections, they would follow the law and not decide cases based on personal views. Unfortunately, that didn't happen.

Congressional term limits need to be brought before this in my humble opinion

The Constitution states that Justices "shall hold their Offices during good Behaviour." This means that the Justices hold office as long as they choose and can only be removed from office by impeachment.

Study was done in 2006. Apparently wasn't a concern from 2009-2017. Hmm. Wonder why?
