Because of unsubstantiated claims of racism and xenophobia, but if a Christian baker ever dares once to refuse to make a pastry for someone due to religious reasons, HOLY shite, let's crucify the bastard and ruin his life!

The hypocrisy of the Left knows no bounds.

in all fairness isn't it hypocritical to not make a cake for a gay?

I am not saying you should be forced to, but it feels hypocritical. If you believe gays are sinners then you have to realize every person that walks in your shop is a sinner.

I want to say this to start: I support any and every business's right to refuse service to anyone.

But the counter argument to this thread is that gays can't choose who they are, while Melania can choose her beliefs.

Not saying I necessarily agree with that argument, it's just a devil's advocate response.

1. yes it is hypocritical to not be mad that the designer will not make her a dress.

2. Bakers who refuse to bake cakes for gays, but not other sinners also hypocritical.

The bakery owners talked about this publicly. They had many gay customers. They served them just like they served anybody else. What they refused to do was bake a customized cake for a gay wedding.

Counter count argument: could you change your beliefs on a whim?

If you believe drug abuse is wrong, would you give money to a friend who is in the habit of abusing prescription medication?

When a sin is so in the public, it is a Christian's duty not to be an enabler of that sin. Just as it is your duty not to enable your friend's drug addiction.

yeah because religious they disagreed with it.

Religiously though they probably disagree with divorce? or with premarital sex? Do they ask couples is this your first wedding? Have you had sex before?

Brb, going to try and believe the earth is flat...

Didn't work, I can tell you I think it's flat though.

It is fine for them to do that but the smarmy self-righteousness is over the top. It is not like it is "brave" in a liberal dominated industry either.

Do they only bake cakes for virgin couples getting married for the first time?

I am all for them being able to refuse service. I personally believe it is hypocritical.

But they aren't refusing to design dresses because of HER racism or xenophobia. They are refusing to design dresses because of who her husband is.

Probably a hell of a lot easier than changing your sexual orientation.

I seriously doubt if ANYONE has ever walked into their bakery and asked them to bake a cake celebrating per-marital sex, or celebrating divorce. But if someone DID do that, I imagine they would have politely declined, just as they politely declined to bake a cake celebrating gay marriage.

Hence why I said when a sin is so out in the public.

You can't ask a woman to lift up her skirt to see if she's a virgin because that would be considered sexual assault in most states. But it stands to reason that most of these bakers would politely decline to make a cake celebrating losing one's virginity.

frick dude, Idk what she believes. I personally don't give a shite. But if that's this whackjob's basis for not designing clothes for her, that's how I'm going to frame the argument.
