However, I’m about to graduate from LSU with a next December with degree in Poli Sci and a concentration in Government and Policy and sights on a tier one law school, and for the life of me, I can’t understand this. Forgive my naivety on conservative policy, but can anyone convince me why this tax bill is a good thing in any way? To me, all it seems like is Trump selling his base a piece of legislation that will only hurt them and their children in the long run along with a massive hole in the deficit to be blown that doesn’t sound like something conservatives and tea party members would be excited about. So why is everyone so eager to get this passed? Is it because of the hacks it takes at Obamacare, or do people generally believe the people that voted for Trump will benefit from this bill? Or is it simply just to have some sort of political “win?”

THe EU released a statement saying it would make American companies TOO competitive.

What do you do when you run out of money?

They need to stop spending money that isn't theirs. It really is that simple.

Simplification and reduction of marginal rates are highly consistent with conservative ideology. The rest of your post is, frankly, ideological (ETA: and partisan) jibberish.

How, exactly? Families making under $75K get almost a 20% reduction in income taxes. Higher earners get a break, but a much smaller percentage. By the time you get into the 200k area, the reduction is less than 10%.

On the other side, the corporate reductions and repatriation will, without a doubt, lead to a huge expansion of economic growth, which will mean more jobs and higher incomes for those same "put upon" families.

average of $150 billion annually, assuming no growth in the economy and no reductions in spending - neither of which will be the case if the congressional GOP would grow a sack.

Taxation is theft.

That is the first concept that you must internalize.

Everybody who works will benefit from this tax bill. It's not us who have been sold a bill of goods, it's you.

It is obvious. You need to go listen to John F. Kennedy's speech on tax cuts and economics. Very simple the less money the gov't takes, the more individuals have to pursue their own desires. Regardless if that money is invested or spent, it will generate more revenue to the gov't due to increase activity and it will create more employed people, which expands the economy and tax base. And so on and so on.

Every dollar taken by the gov't spent on social programs will reduce the ability of the members of the economy to invest and spend. The more gov't you have, the less ability your citizens have to create personal wealth and opportunities.

Ronald Regan exposes this point better than any president in the last 100 years. It is very simple.

Liberals believe gov't creates prosperity.

Conservatives believe that personal liberty create prosperity.

I know which one is right, pun intended.

Nearly every middle class filer gets a tax cut under this plan, especially those who do not itemize.

The projected deficit hit only occurs at the projected 10 year average annual growth rate of 1.8%. The economy is projected to eclipse 3% annual growth for this year. Even at a more modest growth rate of 2.4%, the tax cut becomes a net revenue generator rather than a deficit increaser.

While the bill is far from perfect, it is a baby step in the right direction.

1) Democrats don't care about the debt or the deficit. Under Obama, taxes went up and so did the debt and deficit. It's not like the government has any plans to reduce those things if only we forego modest tax cuts. I want the federal government to do about three things: protect the country militarily, reduce spending, and cut taxes. This is one of those things.

2) I don't know why you think no one will benefit from this. Millions of taxpayers are going to save money. That is a win for me.

3) Yes, it further undermines and hastens the inevitable collapse of Obamacare.

Let's throw the little Libtard a going away party, or at least throw him away.

Higher taxes for all including businesses, or lower taxes for the ones who actually pay in? Damn that's a tough decision.

Hey little Lib, feel free to contribute as much money OF YOUR OWN to FedGov for the rest of your life. FedGov accepts donations. Keep your tiny little mentally dysfunctional hands out of my wallet though.

This. Can't all these people who want more taxes voluntarily give more money to the government?
