Russian hackers penetrated U.S. electricity grid through a utility in Vermont
quote:

A code associated with the Russian hacking operation dubbed Grizzly Steppe by the Obama administration has been detected within the system of a Vermont utility, according to U.S. officials.?

While the Russians did not actively use the code to disrupt operations of the utility, according to officials who asked for anonymity in order to discuss a security matter, the penetration of the nation’s electrical grid is significant because it represents a potentially serious vulnerability. Government and utility industry officials regularly monitor the nation’s electrical grid because it is highly computerized and any disruptions can have disastrous implications for the function of medical and emergency services.?

American officials, including one senior administration official, said they are not yet sure what the intentions of the Russians might have been. The penetration may have been designed to disrupt the utility’s operations or as a test by the Russians to see whether they could penetrate a portion of the grid.

Not a big deal......It's time to move on.....

Why are electric grids hooked up to internet? Shouldnt it be a closed system?

This dude could come to this board and confess everything and he'd get downvotes and called a liar. Just let them be in this safe space.

Here's where I am after 8 years. I don't trust the Washington Post and I don't trust the Obama administration.

100% guarantee that we do the same thing all over the world.

Our intentions are good, though. Right?

It's not like WE would start a war in Syria for the purposes of a future oil pipeline so that the Clintons could collect millions for their Foundation from foreign entities. Would we?

I guess what I use is a system of news sources, mostly accessed online. Breitbart is not on my list, but as a comparison, isn't it basically the same thing as the WaPo? A biased news source with an agenda?

And now what they've done is started sarcastically blaming Russians for everything which dilutes the seriousness of actual issues. Common tactic on both sides but it doesn't help. Putin has trolled so hard that earlier some dipshit on here actually said he wished Putin would have been on the ballot here. It's astonishing.

We can't be friends with them. They've hacked everything from our election to our power grid to Brexit to Germany's election!

What haven't they hacked?!

We were bragging about having the same capability back in November:
quote:

U.S. military hackers have penetrated Russia's electric grid, telecommunications networks and the Kremlin's command systems, making them vulnerable to attack by secret American cyber weapons should the U.S. deem it necessary, according to a senior intelligence official and top-secret documents reviewed by NBC News.

The only way you could conclude that based on the information I've given you so far is if you had already reached that conclusion before we started talking.

In other words, they don't have the balls to put their name to big arse allegations like this or just carrying out Obama's marching orders and don't want to formally accuse Russia of this but cause more controversy.

The left is looking more and more retarded going all on Russian hacker conspiracy theories.
