Meh. I saw him at Bonnaroo a few years ago. Looked apathetic for most of his whole show. Billy Joel, McCartney, Lionel...now those guys put on a show. Played to the crowd and interacted with them; obviously loved being there.

I don't think he's a closet conservative, he's just not a bitch like 99% of the lefty entertainers.
Iirc, he said he could put politics aside to perform for anybody. He also acknowledged that not everybody who would watch him perform shared his views on a lot of things, so he tried to keep politics off the stage.

Despite claims from the Donald Trump campaign, Elton John will not be playing at the President-elect's inauguration, a spokesman for the singer-songwriter said Wednesday.
“Elton will not be performing at Trump’s inauguration,” the spokesman told the New York Post.
“We need a humanitarian in the White House, not a barbarian,” he said in Beverly Hills, Calif., adding Clinton embodies “equality, decency, kindness and respect."
"She is, without a doubt, the only candidate supremely qualified to lead this great nation in these challenging times," he said at the time.

While I'm not supportive of the "gay rights" movement, it's funny to see the liberals call Trump homophobic as a knee-jerk reaction to a Republican running for office. It really shows their ignorance.
