And this pos is part of the Mayors police advisory task force!

LINK

quote:

At one point during the hearing, Arthur "Silky Slim" Reed, an out-spoken activist who frequently advocates for police and criminal justice reform, told the council: "Justice came when Gavin Long came." Justice has already been served. An eye for an eye. So justice came when Gavin Long came," Reed said. Reed was one of many who served on a police advisory task force for Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome shortly after she took office. It was that group that helped her form her Baton Rouge Police Department use-of-force policy changes unveiled in February.

excited to see how quickly he is not removed from his advisory role, and how quickly sharon weston broome does not disavow his disgusting comments.

ETA: she condemned his remarks, and he hasn't been on an advisory committee since February.

You know who never advocated for killing cops? Troy Bell

It's time to bring him back, Mayor-President. #GiveTroyAChance

If this is true then I pray that justice finds him soon.

I heard the audio on a morning radio program and it's very true. The sad thing is they let him go on for a very long time before removing him from the meeting.

Someone should have interrupted him by making a motion to build a new Confederate monument

Have you called the mayors office? Taken the time to write an email or letter? Time to speak up and register your displeasure.

I've called and emailed. Of course, no response but I wasn't expecting one. If the pressure on her increases, maybe she will be more judicious in her city police replacement than she would naturally be.

I refrenced silkly slim flipping the bird to the metro council as well as GC saying they outnumber the police so they could do whatever the want and questioned her judgment in having these individuals on her transition and advisory committees.

That picture would look much better with the business end of a Springfield RO 1911 between his teeth.

In his diatribe, he called policemen KKK members. But he pronounced it Klu Klux Klan instead.

Bye, Felicia

quote:

BATON ROUGE – The mayor has parted ways with crime activist “Silky Slim” after he made controversial comments at Wednesday's Metro Council meeting.

quote:

“The remarks made at last night’s Metro Council meeting by Arthur 'Silky Slim' Reed were hateful, offensive, and frankly unacceptable,” the mayor's office said in a statement.

“Reed previously served on an advisory board earlier this year focused on police and community relations. That committee, which was made up of law enforcement, faith-based leaders and community leaders was disbanded earlier in February. At the time, he was thought to be a person dedicated to improving police-citizen relations.”

The mayor's office also said Reed's contract with the BRAVE crime fighting program where he worked as a street counselor was canceled, too.

“The remarks made last night in no way reflect the views of my administration or the people of Baton Rouge. The memories of the fallen officers who were killed in the line of duty, protecting the citizens of Baton Rouge, should be honored and preserved,” the mayor said in the statement.
