I do agree with this.

Yes we should switch, it's a much more logical system.

But we won't. I love my conservative brethren, but any push by the national government will be seen as a one-world government, federal take-over of schools and industry.

If it ever happens it will be because a few states will do it first. If New York and California switch, their economies are so large as to start shifting the country over. Be great if Texas did if first to mute the nutso wing of the conservatives.

true. Farenheit is much easier to what the heat level is. My ac will freeze me out at 21degreesC but at 22degreesC I can't sleep.

As an engineer I use both metric and U.S. customary units to measure with equal ease. I never viewed either system as being pro liberal or pro conservative. Had to come here to discover this previously unknown fact.

So if Europeans are more cultured than Americans because they all have to know multiple languages (out of necessity) then are Americans more scientific because we have to know 2 systems of measurement?

Lol @ the .1 mm. That's an extreme tolerance for measuring something such as manhood.

No.

Do you know how much shite would have to change? Industry is already built on standard units.

Actually - the first football fields were 110 yards in length (still are in Canada). If I'm not mistaken that's because the first football fields were set to be 100 meters in length = 109.4 yards.

Canadian Football Field are 150 yards in length & United States are 120 yards.

Conceptually, no issue.

Practically, here is a list of a few things off the top of my head that would need to be "converted"..

Every dial on every manual machine tool as well as every mechanical indicator, caliper & standard.

Every pipe, fitting, flange, nut & bolt.

Every road sign that indicates distance as well as every printed map.

Every mechanical instrument that measures pressure, temperature, weight or speed.

Every program in every device that formats any information in imperial units.

And so on, and so on.

It isn't going to happen.
