There should be a law against participating in any march or protest with your face covered.
All the violent anarchist protestors wear a mask or otherwise cover their face, because it is so easy to catch their crimes on video these days.
With a law like this the police could simply arrest and charge the trouble-makers without having to prove that this protestor committed that particular act of violence or vandalism.

I'm not sure that there would be much downside to such a law.

I think that it is already against the law in Washington D.C., but the police did nothing to enforce it during the inauguration.

I don't agree. Unless you enact violence, you should be able to protest dressed how you like.

Conversely, there should be a law to prevent law enforcement officers from wearing masks also. Not only are they hiding their identities from scrutiny, they are acting as a public servant while hiding?

If they have nothing to hide why are they dressing up as criminals and hiding their identities? This question applies to all sides equally does it not?

As I've posted before, I believe anti-Klan laws against wearing masks in public are already on the books.

Why they have not been enforced in these recent cases, I don't know

Is this a serious reply, or are you in fact, just a dumb college kid?

By your logic, if 1,500 masked protestors show up in a particular location, should the 200 police officers just wait to have them enact violence? Do you see where that situation goes?

Of course. It is in the Bill of Rights, a right we insisted on at the time of our founding.

Do you think such a right exists to destroy, assault, injure, and cause mayhem?

It is obvious, the masks are being used for that purpose.

Yes. The masks are the causes of the riots.

How could I have been so very dim.

There are no riots where things are destroyed and people are unmasked.

It's against the law to wear a mask in New Orleans except for Mardi Gras and Halloween.

My god you are stupid. Has anyone claimed that the masks are literally the source of the riots?

We are in agreement

You may want to familiarize yourself with the term specious reasoning, because you seem to believe that just because destruction has occurred with unmasked rioters that somehow means that masked protestors are not there looking to riot.

Yes. The cops should wait on them to act violently before taking action. Is this a real question?

I get where you're going with that, but it's another slippery slope that's not worth it. What's next? No sunglasses? Makeup?

Not worth it.

All public servants not involved in secret positions in foreign operations should be public. Including home addresses.

Most states have laws against having your face covered in public, PERIOD. Regardless of whether you're protesting.

Try walking into a 711 with a mask on and let's see what happens.

Many states have laws that make it a crime to cover your face during the commission of a crime so as to hide your identity. Such as blocking streets.

Sure wish it was enforced more often. There are a lot of laws I wish were enforced more often.
