“In that vein, I am also pleased to announce a series of reforms regarding immigration judges to reduce the significant backlogs in our immigration courts.”

These reforms include a surge of 25 immigration judges at detention centers along the border, and the hiring of 50 new immigration judges in 2017 and an additional 75 in 2018.

The attorney general announced that federal prosecutors are mandated to consider for felony prosecution people who transport or harbor illegal immigrants, and illegal immigrants who re-enter the country after being deported, especially those with a criminal history or gang affiliation.

“Finally, and perhaps most importantly: I have directed that all 94 U.S. Attorneys Offices make the prosecution of assault on a federal law enforcement officer — that’s all of you — a top priority. If someone dares to assault one of our folks in the line of duty, they will do federal time for it,” Sessions added in his prepared remarks.

Any chance he could end the drug war, stop the entitlement giveaways, and prosecute businesses hiring illegals, which fuels all of this, while he's at it?

Glad Trump is keeping his promises on this front. He's still better than Rubio / Hillary so far.

I'll gladly stay illegal if Sessions stays strong on immigration.

But I thought the admin was not accomplishing anything

Sounds like they are doing everything they said they would, that they don't have to drag the congress along with them to do

absolutely no chance of this. We can fix immigration and crime associated with the drug trade, but trump's policies are not the policies to do it.

No, and he shouldn't.

He is doing this to the extent he can. No illegals getting funding because they are not here.

prosecute businesses hiring illegals

That is what he stated today. Harboring....

I've never understood, besides vulnerable populations--why a crime is treated any different for a certain class of victims. Assault of a non-LEO should be treated the same as assault of an LEO.

Because drugs talked about in this context are bad. Should it be tweaked? Yes.

What context? Getting rid of costly, ineffective, and often harmful policies, which would also give people more freedom?

How is that "bad" when the policy itself us far worse than just "bad?"

Screw Sessions for that crap. LE is out of control too. Many of them need beat downs.

Carbonara effect my friend. LEO's are dealing with the drudges of society on a daily basis. They have to be able to enter a situation without fear someone is going to attack them for doing their job, this also keeps them less off edge and less prone to overreacting, carbonara effect

So we should keep letting criminals administer them and locking up addicts rather than allowing pharmacists and regulated businesses dispense them and treating addicts? Our current system benefits no one save cartels and law enforcement.
