re: Sequester Pre-Notice Notice UPDATE: No notice for two weeks
i work for a home builder and 2 years ago when times were really tuff and we were out of things to cut we chose to implement a similar system. every employee took 1 day a month unpaid vacation. it did 2 things, saved some money and changed the attitudes of the employees. Everyone was on the lookout to cut waste especially when it started to take money out of the pockets of employees instead of just the owners.

free market. adapt or die. we adapted and are still alive and well.

Ours are pretty flexible so most of the time a request would be approved.

My guys realize we have to keep operating business as usual, so for the most part they are signing up for certain days like Wifey's birthday etc..So it make scheduling and executing alot easier.

Wait, what?! I assume you aren't paid for those furloughed days?

They eventually would recover the lost wages just as they did the last time this happened. It can be hurtful in the short term for those living from check to check.

That's not what we're hearing. We're being told that we won't see the money.

This isn't like a shutdown due to no appropriations bill or continuing resolution being passed. This is due to "cuts".

Negative, that is why the two day a pay period time off, they said you will not receive recoupment for lost pay like they did during Clinton.

You should be possed at the Democrats for playing politics with your job.

And now the latest:

With the CR having passed through Congress, and the wording allowing DoD more flexibility, we were told that any furlough notices will be delayed until no earlier than April 5.

So I may not be furloughed or for only a shorter period of time.
