ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan 24) – United States Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) on Tuesday condemned the recent violence by Iraqi forces against Peshmerga troops in Kirkuk, adding to the growing list of US Congressmen who have called for a de-escalation of violence between Erbil and Baghdad.
In an official statement, Rubio expressed his grave concerns “to see Iraqi military forces [and Kurdish Peshmerga] firing on each other in Kirkuk.”

Rubio’s remarks have added significance, as he sits on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, which oversees the US State Department.
He urged both Erbil and Baghdad to focus on the fight against the Islamic State (IS) as the extremist group approaches its defeat in the region.
“The United States strongly supports both the Iraqi central government in Baghdad and the [KRG] in our fight to free the people of Iraq from the horrors of [IS],” he said.
“These hostilities are divisive at exactly a time when unity is needed to finish the fight against [IS],” Rubio continued. “I call on all parties to cease hostilities and return to dialogue.”

Meanwhile the rest of Congress sits quiet while the American advised Iraqi Army attacks a truly American ally the Kurds. Turkey is the main player in this situation and they are not pulling their weight. Marco is the only one in Congress fighting for the true freedom fighters the Kurds. Without our help Turkey a supposed ally will massacre them. Congress as a whole outside of Marco won’t do anything because the military industrial complex is what puts dinner on their plates. Disgusting!

Man how many foam parties did Marco invite you to for this kind of loyalty?

I like how Iraqi Forces all of a sudden have brass balls when a mere 1 year ago they were cutting tail and bailing from fighting ISIS even though they outnumbered ISIS 10-1
Feel sorry for the Kurds that they have to continually fight on all fronts - ISIS, Iran, Iraq, etc etc.

They don’t, they are cowards. However, now they are unopposed and the “advisors” are calling for more war to ramp up the CSAs call for more and more troops...

Glad to see you're back working on the Rubio team. Supporting Hillary never suited you.

I feel like the US is betraying the Kurds while Iran is basically setting up a client state in Iraq.
