So I ask again, because clearly you are having problems with the concept.

Beyond what the administration IS doing currently.

What should they be doing?

Sending troops in?

Blockading Russian ports?

What would you consider apt action for the US to be doing to stop the Russian horde from marching on Kiev.

Because there ain't a drop of oil there...most people don't give a frick.

Texas would like to think so...as would California.

I would deploy a carrier group into the Black Sea, hit them with economic sanctions, and announce we are opening a new military base in Poland.

Its geography alone makes Crimea important on a global level.

How does it affect US interests?

Are we traveling up out of the Black Sea regularily?

I understand that Crimea is important for people IN THAT AREA, but what does it do to the US?

So basically my suggestion of moving warships into the black sea and a squadron of F-18 into poland.

Because unless you are prepared for American combat forces engaging Russian ones...on the Russian's home turf. Which no one in their right mind is interested in.

Realistically there isn't anything else Obama can be doing.

But it's be fun to watch all the asshats on this site complain about his perceived ineptness in this situation.

Russia is considered a foe of the United States. We are considered the leaders of the free world. If Russia, one of our biggest enemies, can march into a country and annex it with impunity, we look weak. That hurts us diplomatically and may affect our ability to do business in other places of the world where we have vested interests.

I think the things leading up to this can squarely be put onto Obama and his Executive Administration.

Not to say that what we were doing in previous administrations was great, but there are actions of the Obama Administration that COULD be attributed as a cause of this crisis.

It's not. Not even close. New Mexico has the highest Hispanic population at 47% but not all of these are ethnic Mexicans. Ethnic Mexicans make up around 39% of NM's population.

I'd go a little further. Turn those warships into a carrier group, maybe two. Turn that squadron of F-18s in Poland into the headquarters of a brand new army division, home to about 20,000 American servicemen. I would also reinforce our bases in western Europe for good measure.

That's a crock of interventionist bullshite. Not one tangible thing in that litany of crap.

Hispanics, ethnic Mexicans, they're all the same. Very few of them care about the United States unless they can't find a job.

They identify more with Mexican than they do the U.S. or New Mexico.

I do. He doesn't.

I listed what I would do in a thread yesterday. You can search and find it should you be interested to do so.

However, the difference is, I AM NOT THE F*CKING PRESIDENT. HE IS!!!!

He is expected to do something. It's his job, knucklehead!

Really, then why do you keep asking me what I would do if you don't take me seriously? Why do you keep stalking me from thread to thread if you don't take me seriously? You lie.

I've posted this before but I'll do it again.

Short Term

1. Get the Europeans to get serious about tough economic sanctions on Russia to include energy.

2. Position some naval assets in the Black Sea or the at least the Eastern Med.

3. Conduct large scale military exercises in neighboring NATO countries like Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey.

Long Term

1. Restart missile defense efforts in Eastern Europe. And not under the guise of countering Iran. Make it plain that we feel Russia is a threat and the missile defense is there to counter their aggression.

2. Ask what's left of Ukraine to join the NATO.

3. Make permanent and expand the the Black Sea Rotational Force aimed at training Eastern European militaries.

Non-interventionism resulted in the largest war in human history.

Let's go even further. Try to rotate them onto the UN Security Council.

Anything and everything we can do to isolate Russia.

I'll ask again how not knowing the best course of action in a tense global conflict makes my criticism of Obama hypocritical.

That's like saying I'm a hypocrite when I get pissed that a player on my fantasy baseball team goes a week without a home-run since I didn't hit a home-run either.

If you think 2014 Russia and 1941 Germany are even remotely equivalent I don't even know what to tell you.

History is important obviously, but it needs to be used in CONTEXT.

My question is: what US interests are being harmed from this invasion? Should we publicly condemn this? Obviously. But why should we get involved militarily or economically?

Well our ally (who aided our military efforts) just got invaded by our biggest most consistent foe since our rise as a superpower. I definitely think that affects the US. I guess I'm just not one to cut off an ally in a strategic position of the globe who is actively attempting to ally themselves further with the western world.

Yeah, it's not like an attack on US soil had anything to do with that.
