quote:

1. He said he wouldn’t bomb Syria. You bought it. Then he bombed Syria.

Meh. IMO the limits of intervention is regime change with boots on the ground. If this and other strikes are discrete to set Assad straight I believe most Trump supporters are okay. However if Trump gets into ME meddling like Libya, Iraq and Afghanistan he will lose his supporters en masse.

quote:

2. He said he’d build a wall along the border with Mexico. You bought it. Now his secretary of homeland security says “It’s unlikely that we will build a wall.”

This is contingent upon congress to get the ball rolling. Trump and the executive branch are ready.

quote:

3. He said he’d clean the Washington swamp. You bought it. Then he brought into his administration more billionaires, CEOs, and Wall Street moguls than in any administration in history, to make laws that will enrich their businesses.

This is a problem. Reich is correct about this.

quote:

4. He said he’d repeal Obamacare and replace it with something “wonderful.” You bought it. Then he didn’t.

This is contingent upon congress.

quote:

5. He said he’d use his business experience to whip the White House into shape. You bought it. Then he created the most chaotic, dysfunctional, back-stabbing White House in modern history, in which no one is in charge.

This subjective and a media created narrative.

quote:

6. He said he’d release his tax returns, eventually. You bought it. He hasn’t, and says he never will.

Right, he never will. But no one except his opponents care about him releasing his tax returns. No one else cares.

quote:

7. He said he’d divest himself from his financial empire, to avoid any conflicts of interest. You bought it. He remains heavily involved in his businesses, makes money off of foreign dignitaries staying at his Washington hotel, gets China to give the Trump brand trademark and copyright rights, manipulates the stock market on a daily basis, and has more conflicts of interest than can even be counted.

IMO only his opponents care about this. If it gets to a point where Trump is egregious and obvious as the Clintons were with leveraging government power to enrich themselves then his supporters will call foul.

quote:

8. He said Clinton was in the pockets of Goldman Sachs, and would do whatever they said. You bought it. Then he put half a dozen Goldman Sachs executives in positions of power in his administration.

This is true. However it hasn't been proven yet that the Trump Goldman Sachs cronyism has reached the Clinton Goldman Sachs level of cronyism...yet.

quote:

9. He said he’d surround himself with all the best and smartest people. You bought it. Then he put Betsy DeVos, opponent of public education, in charge of education; Jeff Sessions, opponent of the Voting Rights Act, in charge of voting rights; Ben Carson, opponent of the Fair Housing Act, in charge of fair housing; Scott Pruitt, climate change denier, in charge of the Environmental Protection Agency; and Russian quisling Rex Tillerson as Secretary of State.

This is a plus. Theses are fantastic appointments. Generally Trump supporters like these appointments.

quote:

10. He said he’d faithfully execute the law. You bought it. Then he said his predecessor, Barack Obama, spied on him, without any evidence of Obama ever doing so, in order to divert attention from the FBI’s investigation into collusion between his campaign and Russian operatives to win the election.

It will be proven that the Obama administration spied on team Trump during the campaign.

quote:

11. He said he knew more about strategy and terrorism than the generals did. You bought it. Then he green lighted a disastrous raid in Yemen- even though his generals said it would be a terrible idea. This raid resulted in the deaths of a Navy SEAL, an 8-year old American girl, and numerous civilians. The actual target of the raid escaped, and no useful intel was gained

This is a subjective and biased view of that operation by Reich.

quote:

12. He called Barack Obama “the vacationer-in-Chief” and accused him of playing more rounds of golf than Tiger Woods. He promised to never be the kind of president who took cushy vacations on the taxpayer’s dime, not when there was so much important work to be done. You bought it. He has by now spent more taxpayer money on vacations than Obama did in the first 3 years of his presidency. Not to mention all the money taxpayers are spending protecting his family, including his two sons who travel all over the world on Trump business.

Time spent at Mar A Largo is not a vacation. That's just his lifestyle.

quote:

13. He called CNN, the Washington Post and the New York Times “fake news” and said they were his enemy. You bought it. Now he gets his information from Fox News, Breitbart, Gateway Pundit, and InfoWars.

Reich is right. CNN, WaPo and the NYTs are not fake news. They are "very fake news". Especially CNN.

For the things that he promised but it hasn't happened yet: we not quite 3 months into his Presidency. Perhaps we should give it some time considering he had lofty goals and not everything can be done with a push of a button.

Are you serious? His lifestyle? Well "his lifestyle" comes at a massive costs to taxpayers and he promised to stay and the whitehouse and work longer hours than any President in history during the campaign.

Yeah I agree with your analysis, Gumbo. Half of the things that this pint sized leftist points out are things that only leftists themselves care about.

A couple (few?) legit points. And I'd like to raise a point myself.

Robert Reich stands 4 feet 11 inches. His penis, when flaccid, is probably about the size of a "midgee" Tootsie roll.

Nothing strange about this statement, nothing strange at all.

Nobody is going to judge you. It's OK.

keep pushing that goal post back.

Is Mexico still paying for it like he promised they would?

So now its cool if the president lies to you? Remember the uproar the last president's birth certificate caused? Which was fueled by the current president.

Too much deflection and excuse making to stomach.

Less bugs at Mar-A-Largo than at the White House. It also appears he is working longer hours than previous prezs, just not in your location of choice.

There's a lot of blaming congress in there. Trump never said "we're going to build that wall as long as congress approves and passes the bill."

You can't have it both ways.

If you knew basic civics when Trump made those claims during the campaign you'd know that there was/is only one way.

I din't think it was wonderful. But Ryan and many House congressional leaders and Trump thought it was wonderful. They are apparently in the process of making it more wonderful.

I'm loling because you are trying to nail Trump down on subjective adjectives and adverbs.

Well you're defiant. I'll give you that.

This is contingent upon congress to get the ball rolling. Trump and the executive branch are ready.

I won't go through the rest, but the wall isn't happening.
