Republicans gonna Republican
Exactly why they will never get my vote

Senate Republicans had no appetite for discussing how to thwart President Obama’s executive orders on immigration during the conference’s weekly lunch, according to a source familiar with the meeting.
Senator Mike Lee (R., Utah) and Senator David Vitter (R., La.) tried to broach the topic, but were ignored.
“At different times, Lee and Vitter stood up and tried to begin a discussion about what the plan was and asked leadership about what their strategy was to deal with the spending bill and respond to Obama executive amnesty, and the reply was always an effort to try to change the subject to the ozone rule from the EPA or some other issue, and it was just bizarre,” the source said.

Senator Jeff Sessions (R., Ala.) suggested that House Republicans are on the verge of breaking their campaign promise to fight President Obama’s administrative amnesty, judging by the legislative text currently being circulated.
Sessions said that the proposed language “fails to meet [the] test” established by Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus, who promised earlier this year that the GOP would do everything possible to thwart Obama’s executive orders.
“The executive amnesty language is substantially weaker than the language the House adopted this summer, and does not reject the central tenets of the President’s plan: work permits, Social Security and Medicare to 5 million illegal immigrants — reducing wages, jobs and benefits for Americans,” Sessions said in the statement expressing his dissatisfaction with the results of a House Republican conference meeting today.
In the meeting, “the lawmakers began coalescing around a two-part plan that would allow a symbolic vote to show their frustration with President Obama’s executive action on immigration, before funding the government ahead of a Dec. 11 deadline,” according to the New York Times.

I find this shocking.
Ok. I'm not shocked.

The Republicans are already getting pushed around and shouted down. It didn't take long at all for the Dems to shake off the election and pretend it never happened.

Thanks gutless arse Boner and McConnel.... Terrible leadership from the Republicans. They deserve everything they get.

I don't understand part of this argument... If Jose now has to go legit and be in the system and pay his taxes, how can he work for a cash wage below the minimum wage?
I thought the argument always was the illegals would do the same job for 1/2 the price in cash? Doesn't making them all go legit eliminate that?
What am I missing?

The GOP is full of big government pussies.

You're not missing anything. I've made this argument before. The only illegal immigrants in the "shadows" that might go legit are the people that want to benefit from the US welfare safety net.
ETA: what illegals really want is deportations to stop and continue to work the black market cash system.

Not even close. A least the dems are willing to stand on principle, albeit f'd up principles. The Republicans have a backbone of a slinky.

I still think the Republicans are still having an identity crisis of who they are and what they want to stand for. It started with the arrival of the Tea Party, but I don't think we've seen a definitive resolution yet.
I think this upcoming presidential primary may get brutal.

That's why I never got excited about Republicans winning back the Senate.
Hell Obama is probably happy they won. He already knows he can roll right over McConnell and Boehner only now he doesn't have to deal with Nancy and Harry as much.

There is huge division within the GOP on the topics of NSA/Patriot Act/Privacy Rights, foreign policy and immigration, IMO. The division can be more generalized by the big government corporatist and the "small government" Tea Party libertarian types, IMO.

I agree. Throw in the social conservatives and Religious Right, and it's just a whole mess of (what I see as) incompatible interests and beliefs.

You have any examples of Sessions' David-Dukeness?
