On Monday, after President Joe Biden unveiled his $7.3 trillion budget proposal for fiscal year (FY) 2025, House Republican leaders in Congress immediately rejected the high ticket spending proposal.

The $7.3 trillion proposal, the White House claims, "reduces the deficit by $3 trillion over the next 10 years." House Speaker Mike Johnson in coordination with the House Republican leadership released a statement rejecting the proposal.

The New York Times reports that the budget is similar to last year’s proposal from the Biden administration which also did not go anywhere in Congress.

The White House cited decreases in the deficit since he took office in 2021 as a sign of progress in spending cuts. Although, aside from FY 2020 during the pandemic, the deficit levels in the Trump years are lower than the deficits in fiscal year 2022 and 2023.

How does spending more reduce a deficit?

And did they mean debt?

With how they're destroying the economy, won't this add about $3T to the debt, not including interest?

Then why don’t we spend 30 trillion and save 10?

Somebody please show me where the deficit "decreased" during any point in time during Trump or Biden's terms or any time the past 50 years.

Slightly incremental reductions in the rate at which the deficit is increasing =/= decreasing the deficit. Just more word salad by stupid liars who are just smart enough to get stupid people to actually believe them.

Oh, what I wouldn't give just to see one single administration in my lifetime actually decrease the national deficit. That would be super.

And we have a winner. What he did, he took the one covid year of spending and is basing all the math on that, so he is decreasing the spending, but still well above every other year of Trump and certainly even above his current spending.

In other words he is not decreasing the deficit, he is decreasing, when compared to that one year, what was spent in that year which was a deficit.

I think the board would understand better if they used global warming/climate change/point of no return climate, mathematics.

Federal outlays in 2021 were the highest in the history of the nation at $7.249 trillion.

So they’re taking the highest spending ever (because of Covid) and decreasing that by a little and claiming to cut spending.

frick you Biden.

Fed spending

The early morning Yahoo News headline explains it:
He's gonna tax the ultra-rich!

I think this has been a part of every Dem budget plan in history.

By the time he gets done, the "ultra rich" will equal anyone who currently receives a paycheck.
