Report: A mysterious memo played a key role in comey's decisions in Hillary email case

Officials told the newspaper that the FBI director was worried that Russia could attempt to undermine the independence of the investigation by leaking the document if Lynch announced that the investigation was closed.

The obsession with the Russians is really unlike anything I've ever seen. It's become the ultimate crutch to excuse failure. Didn't win a presidential election because you were too lazy to campaign? It's the Russians fault. Don't have the stones to see the Hillary investigation through to the end? Those damn Russians again. Shocked that Trump actually won? Couldn't have done it by himself. The Russians must have helped him.
Edit: I forgot one. Too lazy to come up with a password other than 'password'? Got damn teams of Russian hackers used all their resources to hack Podesta's emails.

Looks to me like the NYT report includes major FBI CYA. They were free to describe the email in better detail but it appears they did not do so.

The email was provided the the FBI by the intelligence community. They had been sitting and watching the hacking for a year before any of this became public. The NYT report includes an important detail: the IC was able to peer into Russian networks to see what was taken. They were able to make copies of these docs and then provided them to the FBI. That's where this email/memo came from.
Very important detail concerning attribution here.

Just a guess but probably a Kenyan national born in Hawaii - Barack Hussein Obama.
We could have had Jim Webb or even Senator Sanders for president but Barack bent over for Hillary.
