I see a lot of um, "informed" voters pulling that D lever for someone they have never heard of.
Before this thing is over it could be a hoot to watch. Soon to come after the ACLU lawsuit will be calls of racism, Odrama will jet in to give a "speech" SEIU will assist the UAW to "get out the vote".

Why would you hire people to gather signatures that are not registered to vote? Wouldn't you want to get them registered?

Because that's his "out" when someone finds out there were 1400 forged names.

But just wait until this crook dies. The Left and the media will act like he was one of the greatest public servants who ever lived.

Conyers submitted 2,000 signatures, needing 1,000 valid ones. After the challenges, he had 592.
I wonder who challenged the signatures? It had to be someone knowledgeable about the method Conyers used to get the signatures.

quote:

The American Civil Liberties Union has already challenged that law in federal court, saying it's unconstitutional to require signature-gatherers to be registered voters.
Why? Aren't states allowed to make the rules for who qualifies for ballots? Article I, Section 4 of the Constitution provides,
quote:

The Times, Places and Manner of holding Elections for Senators and Representatives, shall be prescribed in each State by the Legislature thereof; but the Congress may at any time by Law make or alter such Regulations, except as to the Places of chusing Senators.

The laws of Michigan do not appear to violate the requirements of the Constitution by establishing an undue burden or conferring an undue advantage against any particular person seeking election that would deny them of due process or equal protection under the law. And as far as I know, Congress hasn't passed any laws to alter Michigan's requirements.

All that being said, Conyers will find a friendly judge who puts him on the ballot by edict. It will be similar to Frank Lautenberg replacing Bob Torricelli on the New Jersey Senatorial ballot in 2002.

I just know racism will be used as a valid defense in this somehow, someway.

shite like this is what makes the ACLU extremely hit or miss with me.

Disgusting how some politicians refuse to let fresh ideas circulate the halls of congress.

John Conyers is a walking reason why we need term limits.

85 years old? Seriously? Wow.

Conyers is in an uncomfortable spot. His constituants are the lowest of the low-information voters (as evidenced by the fact that they seem satisfied to keep that idiot to Washington for 50 years). Now he has to depend on them to be smart enough to know where and how to write him in. Will they even put forth that much effort?

Note that a federal judge has just issued an injunction mandating that Conyers name be added to the ballot. Note further that the federal judge who issued the decision is an Obama appointee who was filibustered, but cloture was invoked under the relaxed rules Democrats imposed on the Senate. He would not have been in this position to do the political work of the Democrats without that change in cloture rules. This is one further case of another Obama political hack doing the president's political bidding in his role as a federal judge.
