“The intent of the bill is to ensure that employers have the ability to govern themselves and make sure they create the best working environment for their employees,” said bill sponsor Sen. Jay Trumbell (R-Panama City).

If OSHA doesn’t have enough man power to respond to calls, perhaps that’s the problem that needs to be addressed.

I think I remember some debates on this, maybe on youtube, and people were commenting about how hard it is to work in certain heat conditions - they had no clue or appreciation for the fact that people have been doing it for hundreds of years. They were claiming that a person could only last a few minutes in certain conditions that people have worked in for hours at a time throughout history. It seems like people are trying to make humans weaker.

Heat protection laws are just one more projectile in the assault on America.

Man up, or get back to the kitchen.

Glad DeSantis stood his ground. Anyone who can’t handle a little heat is just a lazy POS.

frick these “protection” laws. All they do is hurt businesses.

If folks would spend time outside then heat would not be as big of an issue…. AC and TV has made this country soft…

Did construction work with my old man every summer through my teens and for about a year after high school to save some money towards college. I got a better idea how hard it is than you do.

So you were an intern over the summer and made some money to go to college? Holy shite that’s rough. Amazing you were able to overcome such adversity. Truly astonishing.

The truly astonishing thing in this thread is the number of people who think that they're tougher than the fricking sun.

Because reddit is infested with computer-gaming obsessed urbanites. Things like the outdoors are more or less just an image in their heads.

Same people who walk outside during a summer and go "wow, it's much hotter than last year, climate change is accelerating!" As if it's even possible to measure temperatures changes like that and expect any objectivity.

Last summer we just took more breaks throughout the day and drank more water. Last summer was brutal but no one died.

Exactly. Too many people these days are stuck inside with their video games and A/C units and think going outside is bad for them. Hard work is a foreign concept to them.

If you can't take the heat outdoors get yourself a job changing bedpans in the nursing home.

But if you can't stand the heat, you're supposed to get out of the kitchen
