Very interesting take from a black adult male. I thought it would be worth sharing their take on the situation.

quote:

I’m not White; in fact, I’m a Black male. But there is one thing I really wish people would stop doing to Whites: I am sick and tired of my White friends feeling as if they have to walk on eggshells around me. I am a grown man who needs no coddling or protection, and I tell people this all the time.

But what makes them feel this way in the first place?

Honestly, I think it’s because Whites (especially straight, White males) seem to be the only group safe for everyone to attack. And that’s just dead wrong. We’re so caught up with being “inclusive”, which is a good thing, but it seems we’ve made a mistake: we felt as if we had to identify some “bad guy” or “enemy” who was responsible for all the evils in this world. And, since Caucasians are the majority in this country, I guess we had to pin it on them.

Look, not all Whites are the same (just as not all Blacks are the same). But, when you start blaming all this crap on a particular group en masse, don’t be surprised when members of that group start feeling as if their backs were against the wall and start fighting back. Is this the F-ing “racial harmony” we were wanting?

It’s wrong when you stereotype or discriminate against me, and it’s just as wrong when you do it to the White gentleman beside me. I know I HATE being judged by some stupid-assed, blanket racial stereotype, so I know exactly how it must feel when some of my White friends get the same treatment.

How about we just start judging each other as individuals? Good God, is it really that difficult?

LINK

If you follow the link, the first article is from a man in South Africa which is also an interesting read but not as applicable to the situations faced by most people on this board.

It should be noted in NO WAY do I think I "have it bad" or "had it worse than (insert minority here)". I know my life was pretty dang easy growing up compared to a lot of people.

In my circles the straight white guys that hate being stereotyped are the ones that do the stereotyping. When its about blacks they say you're different Winston.

As a straight white Christian male I do face prejudice on a daily basis. To get where I am today I've had to overcome a lot of diversity

It is weird trying to link Quora questions because the answers I see may not be the ones you see. On my PC the link I supplied has the article I quoted as the second answer.

There are some white people who don’t know how to act around black people, because they don’t see and interact with them on a daily basis like most SEC country folk do. If you have any friends like that, it can be really embarrassing. They can’t help themselves but to steer topics into the uncomfortable direction of oppression to make themselves look good, but all it comes off as is someone exposing their own white savior fantasies which can be very off putting.

Very frickin true, those of us that work for a living, have the same stuff to talk about with each other, and it comes natural,w/o race ever being a consideration.
Somebody who feels that they have to bridge a gap? I guess their life must make them feel guilty about something.

Why would anybody downvote this? Mutual respect is the goal right?
I can't bring my self expectations down, and I would struggle to communicate with anyone of a different mindset. It's not my place, their parents were supposed to do that.

Being systematically and deliberately replaced in our own countries through mass immigration I'd say. There are others too. This isnt 1960 anymore

This may be true, but it highlights that people still see color. If you don't see color, and you see a person instead, your scenario is impossible.

"I have a dream...."

Sadly, I'd wager less than 10 percent of black people can tell you what that speech is about and what MLK asked of his followers.

It is ALL about skin color now.
