Micah Zenko ?@MicahZenko 23h
Israel launched more airstrikes in four days (1,100) than US has in Afghan, Pakistan, Yemen, and Somalia this year (865).

Yeah, but our airstrikes are way cooler and we can watch live from the SR.

I'd imagine the Israelis have been flying two different types of airstrikes. Operational airstrikes that target the sites from which Hamas has been launching rockets into Israel, and airstrikes that target individual Hamas members. The Israelis have been gathering intelligence on Hamas and its members for years. They know who the members of Hamas are, and they know where they live. They probably have an extensive list of targets that they are working their way through.

If you spit in Israel's face, they bring a fire hose.
If you kick dirt on Israel's boots, they drop a mountain.

This is not a difficult concept. The Israeli state was created in a very contentious way in an area that is very hostile to them. They do what they feel they must to ensure their survival. The ME is not a place for the squeamish or indecisive I'm afraid.

Almost a thousand strikes over two dead kids, punishing all for the crimes of a few or even a single person. Seems reasonable.

It's hard to criticize their hostile takeover of the land since our country was founded in much the same manner, though our country doesn't need to be bankrolled by another to survive. If their de facto communism worked and their country was self-sustaining, I'd feel differently.

And the mortal enemies that they've created are going to get a lot better at destroying things as time goes by. There is no hope for a peaceful outcome over time, especially when religious fanatics on both sides actually want the whole world to burn.

If American Liberals were to switch homes with the Israelis, how long would it take the peaceful Palestinians to completely wipe them out?

You realize this didn't happen until after Hamas launched over 100 rockets for 1 dead Palestinian kid right.

Israel was investigating the murders and some random Israelis killed a Palestinian kid. So Hamas launched missiles. Then Israel did what they do better than most, they returned fire 10 fold.

The resultant extreme white guilt from being there would probably prompt them to invite the Palestinians into their homes.

So, not long.

I really don't believe anything Israel says. They get flicked on the ear and respond with a drive by. It's always been this way.

They're super badassness while they have our vastly superior hardware and training, but without it, they would hardly be "the greatest fighting force the world has ever seen."

There are recent links that go into more detail about specific units and actual rankings, but the whole thing about Israel being the best was constantly shoved up our asses and saturated pop culture in the 80s. It's dropped way off since then.

One memorable example is from the movie Dragnet, when Joe Friday tells the villain that he'll be facing the greatest force in the world (he means the LAPD ) and the villain responds "the Israelis?" Pop culture accounted for most examples, actually, so yeah, self-marketing.

You'd think Palestinians would have learned by now that if we bomb Israel they are about to hammer our arse. But those idiots will never learn.
