Pulitzer-Prize winning journalist says Benghazi is a HUGE STORY

April 15, 2014 by Washington Blog.
Beyond partisan politics: What Benghazi is all about.
Pulitzer-prize winning investigative reporter Seymor Hersh - who broke the stories of the Mai Lai massacre in Vietnam and the Iraqi prison torture scandals, under Nixon and Bush, reported this last week.
In January, the Senate Intelligence Committee released a report on the assault by a local militia in Septembee 2012 on the American consulate and a nearby undercover CIA facility in Benghazi, which resulted in the death of U.S. ambassador, Christopher Stevens, and three others. The report's criticism of the State Department for not providing adequate security at the consulate, and of the intelligence community for not alerting the U.S. MILATARY to the PRESENCE of a CIA OUTPOST in the area, received front page coverage and revived animosities in Washington, with Republicans accusing Obama and Hillary Clinton of a cover-up.
That's the part you've heard about: failure to protect the personal at the embassy.
But then Hersh breaks the deeper story wide open:
A highly classified annex to the report, not made public, described a secret agreement reached in early 2012 between Obama and Erdogan administrations. It pertained to the rat line. By terms of the agreement funding came from Turkey, as well as Saudi Arabia and Qatar; The CIA, along with the MI6 was responsible for getting arms from Gaddafi's arsenals into Syria. A number of front companies were set up in Libya, some under the cover of Australian entities, Retired American soldiers, who didn't always know who was employing them, were hired to to manage procurement and shipping. The operation was run by David Petraeus, the CIA director who would soon resign when his affair became known with his biographer. ( Petraeus has denied the operation.)
THE OPERATION HAD NOT BEEN DISCLOSED, AT THE TIME IT WAS SET UP, TO THE CONGRESSIONAL INTELLIGENCE COMMITTEES AND THE CONGRESSIONAL LEADERSHIP, as required by law since the 1970's.
Sorry, Rex, ol boy, seems you've shyt the pen once again.

Can the next president declassify all of Obama's coverups?

Ya know what's funny? Glenn Beck reported this explanation shortly after it happened. He said it was all about smuggling weapons to the Syrian rebels.

Yeah, but he's a crazy loon that trumps up conspiracy theories. He's just trying to build his audience. Funny how a lot of his "theories" have panned out to be true.

Looks like the New Yorker and the Washington Post have lately both declined to carry Seymour Hersh's investigative journalism regarding Middle East affairs... owing to an overwhelming reliance on "anonymous sources" and lack of any real compelling evidence.
If Mr. Hersh has seen an explosive paper "not made public" then he'll have to be more convincing. If there's some explosive paper that condemns President Obama then I'm sure the House committees will soon have them... or would have cited them already.

Hillary? Wouldn't count on it.

Beck said this almost the very next day after it happened. He had a contact that pretty much described in detail how this was all set up by Obama and the Turkish Prime minister and that the "consulate" was really a CIA annex holding a large weapons cache.
But I guess if someone repeats that 1.5 years later it's Pulitzer worthy...

Why did he keep this from Congress? It doesn't make sense. This could be like iran/contra. Gun running like this, without at least telling a select congressional committee is going to be big, esp. when people died, and our first Ambassador lost in 30 years, back when this stuff was outlawed....

THIS STORY WAS POSTED ON THIS BOARD...MONTHS AGO
It was picked up by some papers, then the msm propaganda machine went into full spin to claim it was not true.
this government is it out control.

And then there's that. This is not some new conjecture and nothing has come of it. I guess this "annex" paper is supposed to be some new revelation that proves it? Let's see it.

Oh Rex, he could produced a signed and notarized copy straight from POTUS and you still would deny it.
FTR, this is this the most plausible explanation and has been a theory of many since day one.
