Looking to speed Mueller's Russia probe and show openness, the president's legal team might soon volunteer a chance for the special counsel to interview Trump.

quote:

Donald Trump’s lawyers are open to having the president sit down for an interview with Robert Mueller, according to a senior White House official, as part of a wider posture of cooperation with the special counsel’s Russia probe. If Mueller doesn’t request an interview by Thanksgiving, Trump’s lawyers might even force the issue by volunteering Trump’s time, the official said. The White House believes such an interview could help Mueller wrap up the probe faster and dispel the cloud of suspicion over Trump.

quote:

A meeting with Mueller could bring serious risks for Trump — exposing him to questions about everything from potential obstruction of justice over his firing of FBI Director James Comey to what Trump might know about Kremlin support for his presidential campaign. But the official suggested that the White House has no reason to stonewall Mueller. “Whatever happens with regard to whether or not, or how, the special counsel might want to interview the president, there’s no reason to expect that would be combative,” the senior White House official explained.

quote:

A meeting with Trump could also bring perils for Mueller himself, legal experts said. Pressing Trump for answers on potential topics ranging from his business finances to his family’s role in the election could risk enraging a president who has privately mused about his power to fire the special counsel.

First rule of a good defense lawyer: never allow your client to talk. Nothing good ever comes from it.

Mueller is dragging this shite out as long as he can.....

1) Longer this goes on the more he and his scum are paid
2) Longer this goes on the Dems can keep a cloud over this presidency-why give that up. This would especially be true the more Mueller finds that there isn't much there to prosecute. He will refuse the Trump lawyer request to make them uncomfortable (not give them what they want).

Depends, would he be under oath like Elvis of Arkansas who had to be subpoenaed and force to testify, or would he be interviewed like GWB in the Plame case?

Can't wait to see how this is negatively spun against Trump...

Solid advice but you think Trump's lawyer can silence him?

all indications are this is actually moving relatively fast. Starr investigated clinton for like 6 years.

It would stupid to let trump speak to mueller. Trump is fast and loose with words, and it would be pretty easy to catch him in a lie. And that lie would likely have nothing to do with the investigation at hand. Making false statements brought down stewart, libby and a bunch of others.

Is it true that Carter Page interviewed with the FBI for 6 hours without a lawyer present?

I don't care if you're even so much as a POI, that is some of the dumbest shite you can ever imagine someone doing and there is no debate to be had here.

I doubt Trump would agree to going under oath, and I doubt Mueller would do it without that
