Iraq demobilization --- too early, country falling apart
Afghanistan--- Killing of 1000's of innocents with drone strike, but the SOB has a Nobel Peace Prize
Libya--- why did we join France & the UK to protect their oil interest there
Libya --- killing of his Ambassador and didn't shite to save him
Syria --- Red Line, then Putin schooled his arse on foreign diplomacy
Ukraine --- Another opportunity for Putin to take candy from a baby

But he has a peace prize and he understands that global warming is our greatest threat.

I hate Obama, but Iraq isn't his fault. He asked to allow our troops to stay longer against the wishes of most Americans (liberal and conservative). In the end, he ended up using Bush's exit strategy.
Iraq was never gonna be stable unless we kept a military presence for hundreds of years.

Sorry Slackhouse, Obama and H.Clinton dropped the ball on foreign policy and the opportunity to have a stable country in middle east.
Hell, we kept troops in Germany, Japan, and South Korea for 50 years to help them stabilize, why didn't they do this in Iraq? Considering the loss of great American soldiers in Iraq, they should have committed to doing the right thing and working with the Iraqi government until the country was stabilized and the governing process was more mature.

You can thank the over 58M voters that wanted this for the next four years. No sense in harping on it now. The damage has been done. We get to watch the next 35 month of a lame duck POTUS and shifting Senate come November accomplish absolutely nothing.

Got it so since we had already lost lives and spent billions we should have continued to do the same. Great logic.

TejasPete: This is the logic of most military personnel and veterans, not the puppets the liberals put on TV to cry about the wars.

We learned a hard lesson about nation building...in Muslim Countries. Like Socialism...noble intent...with little or no chance of success when the people (their lack of vision) is the problem.
Live and learn.

The mistake was invading Iraq in the first place. Bush's administration was duped by Iraqi American Shiites who had more loyalty to Iran than Iraq. Yeah Saddam was a monster, but he posed no threat to the US. However, he was certainly a buffer to Iran, which is no longer the case.
Germany & Japan were defeated countries who had been destroyed. The situation in Iraq wasn't remotely close. The Sunni & Shiites are longtime enemies. Nothing the US was going to do militarily was going to prevent the civil war which has ensued.
Iraq is now a client state of Iran - You can thank Cheney and Bush for that.

That isnt even remotely true. Nice try though.

The American people do not have the will to maintain a large US force in Iraq for 50 years. We just don't want to do it, so we won't.

Yep. Most people that served in Iraq understand the reality that whether we left in 2004, 2014, or stayed till 2050, the same thing would have happened as soon as we were gone.

His whole goal is to make people forget about Jimmy Carter...

I almost entirely agree. The majority of the military "stay forever" crowd were officers with a personal interest in maintaining a combat theater. Interestingly enough, they are the very ones who dropped the ball over the course of 8 years in accomplishing the tasks they deemed so critical to the future of Iraq. I noticed those who objected to leaving were never so vocal about these issues when we all felt the war was never ending and the theater would remain open indefinitely. They also did a great job on the SOFA agreement...

To be honest, I have no idea precisely those involved in its negotiation in 2007-2008.
