I still don't think forcing someone to have a very invasive procedure against their will is the ethical thing to do in pretty much any case.

I don't know if I can, but why do doctors do emergency C-Sections if they don't improve chances of survival?

That's because the first instance cited in the story happened in 1987 LINK

The order was vacated (after the fact). So, it has nothing to do with:

Well this is when you have to be more particular here: improve chances of survival for whom? Any obstetrician will tell you, the pregnant woman is their patient and she comes first. Whether you like it or not, thats the way it is. Most emergency c-sx are due to fetal distress during labor ie "your baby's HR is dropping and isn't tolerating this well, we recommend going to the OR." Now if possible, pt's consent to this as they are being admitted before they are in active labor, and if they say no, you can't cut them up against their will.
