BEDMINSTER, N.J. (AP) - President Donald Trump's national security adviser says the violence that broke out in Charlottesville, Virginia, "meets the definition of terrorism."

H.R. McMaster tells ABC's "This Week" that "anytime that you commit an attack against people to incite fear, it is terrorism."

One person died Saturday when a car rammed into a crowd of protesters in Charlottesville as tension boiled over at a white supremacist rally.

McMaster calls it "a criminal act against fellow Americans. A criminal act that may have been motivated - and we'll see what's turned up in this investigation - by this hatred and bigotry, which I mentioned we have to extinguish in our nation."

I think it is terrorism in the most literal sense. No issue with that.

Were the cop killings in Dallas considered terrorism by the Obama administration? I literally don't know so curious if anyone remembers.

You don't care about Dallas because they addressed it correctly. You do care, it's just not relative because it's not relatable in this sense.

You're also kinda insinuating that trump has labeled Charlottesville as terrorism.

I think it was, and I think Berkeley is symbolically important

But equating leftists trashing a leftish community with someone being murdered probably won't be a great argument.

if this guy had an ounce of integrity, this is all he would have said. It is a terrible event. We don't know much else at this point.

"The Establishment" is trying very hard to eliminate the First Amendment, and they will use any event (organic or synthetic) to push for this.

i imagine the only reason why somebody hasn't died yet is luck. i mean people have gotten frickED up

that one guy hitting a rightie in the face with a heavy chain was dangerous as frick

but it's also one act of terrible violence among a sea of thousands of acts of violence. i'm not equating that specific act. i'm talking about the general behavior

I think HR left off another qualifier for it to be terrorism.

I agree it could have been terrorism but let's not water down the definition of terrorism.
