a 5 percentage point drop since February, from 54 percent to 49 percent,

According to Liberals, now that 51% in one poll don't want it, we need to roll it back and get rid of it. Because that is the reasoning that they used to bring it on - "A MAJORITY OF AMERICANS WANT SSM!!!! WE MUST OVERTURN 8000 YEARS OF HUMAN LAW, CULTURE, AND MORALITY!!!! NOW!!!"

So, um, now that it is back to 51% being against it, um, we uh, um, need to change it back ...

Sorry, history. We were on the wrong side. Our bad.

According to this new Pew Poll, only 41% are opposed.

Another one of those catch-all phrases?
Using your terminology, can someone who is not "against gay marriage" be against gay marriage?

What these polls don't tell you is that most of the people that don't say they are against it or labeled as for it, when the fact is most of the "for it" group actually just doesn't care. Doesn't mean they want or like it, they just don't care enough to have an opinion about it

I just wanted to point out that in a recent Pew poll the support for same sex marriage has dropped which some supporters of same sex marriage at this site said would never happen.

So those in favor of legal recognition for gay couples, according to this survey of 2,002 adults, is at 49% while those against is at 41%.

Just this past May Gallop had a poll showing record highs of those in favor. This is a non story. Besides, we don't have a constitution just to follow public opinion polls.

1 poll out of the last 50 or so. With more recent ones showing a majority support again, bro.

Gay marriage opposition will go the way of the confederate flag - you still see it occasionally when you're around trashy rednecks, but that's about it.

So dawg cites a poll 49-41 In favor of gay marriage and he thinks that means the tide is turning?

Of course he also believes it's ok to lunch your wife out because there's a chance she may kick you in the balls.

You can play with the numbers all you want in an attempt to dis this poll as meaningless but the fact is this Pew poll results show that the support for same sex marriage dropped from 51% to 49%.

Some of the same sex marriage supporters on this site asserted the percentage of people in support of same sex marriage would never go down.

And don't dis the poll as meaningless because it was only 2002 people who took part in it.

When larger polls which took place at most states' polling places the percentage of people in favor of same sex marriage was less than 50%.

Even if you end up winning through the courts that still won't change how the majority of people feel about same sex marriage and homosexuality which is the most important thing.

If you do think it will then just look at how forced desegregation and busing by the courts has improved race relations in this country.

Of course, it will increase again once the old farts and boomers die off though.

Only to be replaced by younger people who also see the truth that the promotion of same sex marriage is not a healthy trend for our nation. I'm not saying same sex civil unions shouldn't be allowed, they most certainly should to satisfy civil rights, but I still hold that traditional marriage between one man and one woman is the foundation of our national success and perpetuation of the human race and should be sanctioned, not homosexual marriage. And yes, I am one of the "old farts" who will die out in the next 20 years.
