People Make My Head Hurt These Days

I hate it. I'm nursing a tension headache now because I had to explain to a friend that Trump did not "Take away $500" from poor homeowners.
"So, you're saying what Schumer said was a lie? He's a liar?"
"Yes."
"Well, Trump said he had bigger crowds than Obama? He a liar too?"
"Yes."
If one is true it does not make the other false.
Trump is not literally hitler, neither is he the second coming of Washington.
What happened to nuance, reading and thinking. When did we become so credulous that we take everything at face value with not even a cursory amount of fact checking, even with the world's largest repository of information at our literal fingertips.
frick, now my head hurts worse. I'm going to an Ashram to stare at a wall for a month and hum to myself.

People don't understand taxes or tax deductions, or much of anything anymore.

I could, but I really don't want to. My ignorance is willful in that regard. I have a tax guy who loves that stuff though. I wouldn't want to deprive him of his sole pleasure in the world -- or that's what I tell myself.

Pretty much how I think. Just tell me how much I owe/get back and file the shite. I could care less. Taxes are just a fact of life and I don't fret over things I can do nothing about.
