If you morons can't see that religious bias and tension is what underlies the vast majority of conflict in this world, then I don't know what to tell you. If there was no religion, the tensions in the middle east don't exist by and large. There is simply no arguing against that. Ancient holy books will be the downfall of the human race barring a major shift in mindset. It really is that simple.

You'd have to be a religious fanatic not to. And there lies the irony.

Middle East? Fine. What about the other recent major wars? WWI,WWII, Korea, Vvietnam. Were they about religion? We fight far more over land possession than religion. Much of the middle east conflicts are about land as well.

Over the broad scope of history, religion has been the culprit by and large. But 20th century wars have once again been rooted in Us vs Them thinking. Whether actual religion or religion in disguise in the form of political orthodoxy. Most of these divisive ideas are orchestrated at levels above and beyond the general population. Modern propaganda tools used by corporations and the state disseminate it to the masses in this day and age.

What? The French were the first to try to create a "Jewish" state in the Levant (Napoleon).

Name 20 religious wars throughout history. Should be simple...

Or, name 10 in Europe in the past 6 centuries.

This. Heard Michael Savage say something on the radio this week that is simple but very insightful and so true: aggressors make the rules. When dealing with aggressors/bullies, you have 2 choices, play by their rules or get your arse kicked. No amount of appeasement/pacification is ever going to be effective against an aggressor and make no mistake, many Muslims are aggressors throughout the world. The free world has been forced to deal with them because Muslims are aggressors bent on imposing their radical religion on the world. From their perspective we are merely infidels who must either submit to their will or be eradicated.

What religious orthodoxy was Kaiser Wilhelm II following? Hitler? Pol Pot? Mao? Lenin?

Only ancient holy books that direct followers to kill nonbelievers. I can only think of one.

How long will Americans go on pointing a finger at Muslims while completely ignoring the elephant in the room?

For a century now, the Fascists who control our government have been the biggest aggressors/bullies on the planet over that period.

You'll excuse me, won't you, if I don't play along in this little boogeyman game. We have enough problems right here at home.

Hitler was influenced by Paganism and was a Fascist. Pol Pot, Mao and Lenin instituted Communism. Communism and Fascism could be said to be political orthodoxy elevated to the state of a religion.

Certainly since the end of WW2. And I would include Britain and Israel in that triumvirate. The Zionist lobby is huge in the US and Israel and controls a massive amount of wealth in this country. Americans fall hook, line and sinker for the rah rah patriotism from the government/corporate alliance.

This is all nonsense. You're basically saying any belief which is strongly enough held (so as to go to war) is a religious belief. Ergo, all wars are religious.
