The school is predominantly AA and so is the principal. How long before the liberals call her an Aunt Jemima?

This is the exact type of teacher/administrator that the teachers unions will hang out to dry.

In case anyone wants context...

quote:

Officials handed out 500 suspension notices at the beginning of this week as part of a truancy crackdown.

They said many parents were able to provide documentation so previous absences would not be recorded as unexcused.

Love said she wanted to do something "radical" to send a message amid the school's struggles with low test scores and graduation rates.

And Love also pointed out that many students who do show up don't actually go to class, instead hanging out in the halls, cafeteria or in the gym.

"If you're not in class, all you're here to do then is to wreak havoc upon the school and disrupt the work that we are trying to do here. And that's to focus on student achievement," she said.

Is that supposed to be like Uncle Tom? It's not the same.

Aunt Jemima has become in slang the female equivalent of Uncle Tom.

Correct. Uncle Tom, Anut Jemimah, those are old un PC terms, Now the left doesn't assume gender in such matters, they just refer to them as house negroes.

Seems like sending them home would be exactly what the students were after anyway?

She seems pretty sharp. If they give her some leeway, she might be able to get their problem cleaned up.

I assume it is in school suspension.

I hadn't either. But, I am an old guy and don't really hear that kind of stuff, either.

That would make more sense, but it's not what it sounds like. Usually suspension refers to OSS.

OSS was dead when I was in school for exactly the reason you mentioned.

Yep. Good on her for doing what needs to be done. However, I don't think that "suspensions" will necessarily do the trick. You know what might though? . . .

Go ahead and call a black woman Aunt Jemima and let me know how that works out for you?

It's still heavily used in places.

That being said, OSS would be especially absurd since the punishment is essentially the crime; however, ISS wouldn't be that much better since it would be another reason not to go to school.
